My first task yesterday morning was to pick the squash which was good as they are getting pretty big really fast now. 5.25 pounds went to the house but will be getting shifted to the cooler today.
It really is nice having just the 2 rows of green beans, it makes picking so much more enjoyable when I am not staring at a pile of rows. The 2 rows are not completely filled and I got 3.5 pounds for the first round.
I finally got the thyme potted up in the greenhouse and they will do so much better now that they can spread their toes out.
It was about 11am and rather hot already but I needed to get the mowing done so I put in my earbuds and away I went. The weeds were a bit sparse so mowing is rather easy except for being able to see the edge of the cut path at times.
I did get some shade as I mowed around the farm.
This should really be the last mowing for many of the areas as the heat is drying everything out pretty quickly.
I still have the other end of the potato garden to mow and the area around the boys' play area and trampoline, and maybe once more by the creek.
Nicely my stepper motor drivers deliver a bit after noon and I quickly got one installed and then back out at the coop. It worked perfectly and I'm glad it was a simple fix. I have a second driver in case this one pops.
The PDC is still ongoing and it is getting down to the end of the tournament. I don't like MVG but I can't stand Gilding so it was good to see MVG destroy Gilding. Smith whooped Cross in the second match and the semi finals are today.
Super cool how this sticker has turned out. @stryeyz made it for me on her Criket and she printed in black. But the sun has changed the color and made the wing gain a shit ton of definition. I really love how it looks this way.
Went to check on the Robin nest and the babies are a lot bigger and one of the parents was plopped in the nest on top of them.
I was killing more bald faced hornets (I'm up over 60 kills now) and the meat bees were coming in and scavenging the carcasses. This one had cut the head and wings from one hornet and had tried to fly away with it but it was too heavy and I watched it fighting with the chunk on the ground.
I also felt a tickle on my arm and swiped my arm across my belt but it was a bee that stung me. I popped the stinger out and squeezed the puncture. Benadryl cream on it but it still itches like mad this morning despite the antihistamines.
The boys had the sprinkler on the trampoline again during the heat of the afternoon.
Then I went down to the creek to clear brush and the boys followed along.
I headed up to the house and then brought the dog down so he could get some cooling off in the small pool.
He truly seems to love splash/bite.
I stopped into the greenhouse and found I had one cucumber ready but I also saw oodles of ladybugs all over. They were on almost every plant and along the hoops and strings. Very happy to see them and I want a shit ton more to eat all the pests.
Our squash and green beans on the Blackstone for dinner.
The boys setup a movie night in J's room which was Real Genius.
Which made it a bit later for us to get out to soak.
Today gonna be a scorcher before the 108 tomorrow. Work early before the heat for sure today. PDC semis are on and then the SSG monster raffle draw is this afternoon.
