The health and well being of people when they grow older, is actually determined by their lifestyle when they were younger.

When talking about health, one of the most important aspects to look into is lifestyle habits. A persons habits, mostly the things that goes into their mouth when they were young and full of energy, has a way of coming back to either bite them when they are older, or to help them ascertain a life that is not filled with too many doctor's appointments.

I hear a lot of people say that it takes good discipline to control what goes into the mouth, but, when I think of it, I can't help it but ask myself why must somebody be disciplined in other to save themselves from a future threat? To me, that's just an excuse. If somebody really want to be healthy in their old age, they will not need anybody to force them into eating healthy. Moreover, healthy eating is not as expensive as it sounds.

Inarguably, the cost of living is increasing as the day goes by. Sometimes, I can't help it but think of the direction in which the economy of the country is heading, but, when I think of it, I don't see any hope of a better economy in the nearest future, just one empty promise after another.

Basically, healthy feeding means having all the classes of food in good quantity in every meal eaten. I remember when I was still a student. We went for Reproductive health experience. There, expectant mothers were given prenatal, intra natal and post Natal care. One of the most important things that was constantly looked into when caring for expectant mothers, is what goes into their mouth. The medical team always hammered on healthy eating as it is very important.

Not only to expectant mothers, healthy eating is important to everyone. Getting adequate nutrition is underrated but in all factuality, it is very very important for healthy living both during the young age and during old age too.

Due to the economic status of the country, many people may complain of the high price of goods and services. This in turn makes healthy eating as a thing of luxury.

To me, it's not actually a thing of luxury. Eating healthy is not expensive neither is it complex. it's as cheap as it can be. Think about it, healthy eating doesn't necessarily mean buying and eating heaven and earth. There are lots of substitutes for proteins. If one can not afford to buy beef, then they could go for a lesser source of protein like eggs, fish, chicken, even crayfish.

During my stay in the antenatal clinic, I understood that healthy living does not necessarily mean eating a big lump of meat, a big bowl of fried rice that has all the carrots and green beans sticking out.

There are many ways to economize funds and eat healthily. like I said earlier, substitutions can be made. Instead of a N500 goat meat, I could buy a N200 crayfish, or egg, or dried fish, and still eat healthily. It's called economizing funds and staying well nourished.

Thank you for reading.
