We played the giant killing Nottingham Forest like they were small children on Saturday. But is this really a surprise, the legitimate sincere answer is no.
Putting things in perspective firstly, Nottingham Forest wasn't sitting fifth on the table, actually level on points with Arsenal, for nothing. They have a very shrewd defence and came into this game unbeaten in five away trips this term. They bit Liverpool at Anfield recently.
But this match was more like a mis-match throughout as Arsenal thoroughly dominated proceeding. After just four minutes the ball was in the back of Forest's net and the goal celebration began, but VAR arose. It was Odegaard, in his first Emirates Stadium appearance in 84 days, clipping a free-kick into the box which Mikel Merino headed goalwards but Nicolas Dominguez scrambled it off the goal-line, but Jurrien Timber was alert and drove the loose ball home. However, an offside flag was raised against Merino– a tight decision backed up after a lengthy VAR check.
Arsenal continued their dominant performance and it ended 3-nil, Saka, Partey and Nwaneri the scorers. Nottingham Forest couldn't understand what hit them.
Yet like I said, Arsenal's performance that day is nothing new.
The mighty Inter Milan couldn't cope with our play, never seen them so confused, their first substitution was taking of three players including their captain and talisman, Lautaro Martinez, who never gets substituted, especially for important matches like this, when they need a performance. The truth is, he was largely ineffective and the giant Thuram who came in for him was not any better. Reminds me of Taiwo Awoniyi of Forest, the guy who always scores against Arsenal, who started the Saturday match and got hauled off because he wasn't effective.
Aggain against Chelsea in the EPL match before Forest, Chelsea know they narrowly escaped defeat.
The issue hasn't been anybody outplaying this team in the past four league games that didn't yield a win, it is about putting the ball in the net.
It happened[scoring] in this match versus Nottingham Forest and in a classy way even – benching important starters like Partey, Martinelli and Harvetz.
This is?
