Hello everyone
During my trip, I had the chance to stop by a restaurant called “Khao Mai Pla Man” thanks to a friend’s recommendation. She told me that if I ever passed through Samut Songkhram, I absolutely had to eat here — not only because of its beautiful design but also for its delicious food. Normally, I’m the type of person who spends more time exploring cafés rather than restaurants like this, but since my friend praised it so highly, I knew I had to give it a try. 🍴✨
The restaurant truly lived up to my friend’s recommendation — Khao Mai Pla Man is beautifully designed and full of character. The entire place is built from bamboo, giving it a warm, rustic charm. Even the walkways are decorated with bamboo patterns that make you feel like you’re stepping into a little nature-inspired world. Along the path, there are lovely ferns and orchids, adding a soft and colorful touch to the scenery. Of course, I couldn’t resist stopping to take a few photos along the way. 📸🌿
While waiting for the food to arrive, I wandered around the restaurant, taking photos from different corners. My favorite spot turned out to be the winding bamboo walkway, beautifully crafted and full of charm. It felt like a little hidden path, and I couldn’t help but admire how well it matched the overall atmosphere of the place. 🌾✨
Inside the restaurant, the design is just as impressive. The entire place is built over a large pond, and bamboo is everywhere — from the roof to the furniture. Even the lamps and ceiling decorations, shaped like different aquatic animals, are crafted to match the theme. The chairs are also made from bamboo, adding to the rustic yet creative atmosphere that makes the whole setting so unique. 🪵🐠
After waiting for a little while, the dishes finally arrived at our table. The menu I ordered was actually recommended by my friend, who insisted it was a must-try when visiting Khao Mai Pla Man. With so much excitement, I couldn’t wait to see if the food lived up to her praise. 🍴😋
First up was the steamed crab with fresh milk — a large crab topped with creamy milk and then steamed until tender. It came with a spicy seafood dipping sauce on the side. For me, the taste was… just okay. Nothing too exciting, honestly. Luckily, I didn’t order too much of it, because the price was on the higher side. 🦀🥛💸
Next came the steamed squid with lime — and once again, it was my friend’s recommendation. The squid was huge, almost too big for its own good. For me, the texture turned out way too chewy… honestly, it felt like I was chewing on a piece of car tire. Not exactly the most pleasant bite. 🦑😂
But the dish I truly enjoyed was the “Lon Poo” (crab dip), served with a variety of fresh vegetables. The flavor was rich, creamy, and absolutely delicious — definitely the highlight of the meal for me. 🦀🥗✨
Overall, my visit to Khao Mai Pla Man was a mix of highs and lows. While some dishes didn’t exactly impress me, the atmosphere of the restaurant and the unique bamboo design made the experience worthwhile. The Lon Poo with fresh vegetables was definitely the star of the table and something I’d gladly order again. More than just a meal, it was a chance to explore a new spot in Amphawa, spend time with a good friend, and enjoy the charm of a place that many locals truly love. 🌿🍴
If you’re planning a trip to Amphawa, this restaurant might be worth a stop — especially if you’re curious about trying dishes you don’t often find elsewhere. Just be ready to discover your own favorites (and maybe skip a few along the way 😉).
