Hello everyone
Phang Nga isn’t just home to charming local markets like Lard Long Lae, but also boasts many beautiful cafés and restaurants worth visiting. On our way back to Phuket, we decided to stop by Baan Suan Gong, a cozy café and restaurant surrounded by lush nature.
What makes this place special is the stunning lotus pond at the back, where visitors can walk down and take photos in a serene, picturesque setting. From the entrance to the outdoor seating area, every corner of this café is Instagram-worthy, making it a dream spot for photography lovers!
Beyond its scenic beauty, Baan Suan Gong also offers fun activities for kids, such as painting, collecting chicken and duck eggs, and even learning to cook simple dishes like fried eggs—using the eggs they collected themselves! And of course, we discovered this place through TikTok, yet again!
As soon as we parked the car, we were greeted by a beautiful wooden building with a high gabled roof, partially covered in lush creeping vines. The greenery added a cool, refreshing touch, enhancing the tranquil and inviting atmosphere of the restaurant.
Stepping inside, we were greeted by a cozy bar area lined with high stools, creating the perfect spot to sit, relax, and take in the beautiful natural scenery outside. The setup not only made for a great photo opportunity, but also offered a peaceful place to enjoy a drink while soaking in the tranquil surroundings.
If you’d like to order food or drinks, simply step into the air-conditioned section, where you’ll find the main counter ready to take your order. Alternatively, you can choose a table first, and the staff will bring the menu to you—offering a relaxed and convenient dining experience.
Inside the air-conditioned section, there’s also a display of locally handcrafted products, made by skilled artisans from the community. Beautifully woven baskets, boxes, bags, coasters, and many other handmade items crafted from rattan and bamboo are available for purchase. These unique pieces not only showcase traditional craftsmanship, but also support the local artisans who keep these skills alive.
At the back of the café, there’s a small creative corner designed for kids who love drawing and painting. Here, children can let their imagination run wild, using the provided art supplies to create their own masterpieces. Once finished, they can either take their artwork home as a keepsake or leave it on display at the café, adding to the warm and welcoming atmosphere.
We chose to sit in the open-air section at the back, where we could fully enjoy the tranquil atmosphere. Looking down, we were greeted by a serene pond, surrounded by lush greenery and towering trees, creating a peaceful and refreshing view. The combination of nature, fresh air, and the gentle sounds of water made this spot perfect for relaxation.
After placing our order, it wasn’t long before the staff arrived with our refreshing drinks. I had ordered a strawberry smoothie, which turned out to be perfectly sweet and slightly tangy—a deliciously refreshing choice for a warm day!
Next came our main dishes—a plate of Pad Thai with fresh shrimp and a serving of crispy mashed potato bites. Both dishes were absolutely delicious, with the Pad Thai bursting with classic Thai flavors and the golden-fried potatoes offering a crispy yet creamy bite. A perfect combination for a satisfying meal!
The final dish was a pork chop, which turned out to be tender and flavorful—a great choice to round off our meal. We didn’t order too much this time since we had already enjoyed a hearty breakfast earlier at Lard Long Lae, but everything we tried here was truly satisfying!
After finishing our meal, I took a walk down to the pond below. The water was teeming with fish, and visitors could purchase fish food from the staff to feed them. For those who prefer a different kind of interaction, there’s also food available for the geese, which could be seen gliding across the water or basking in the sun. Watching them enjoy their time by the pond added to the peaceful and charming atmosphere of the café.
Visitors can also take a leisurely stroll along the designated nature walk, allowing them to fully enjoy the lush greenery surrounding the café. The scenic pathway provides a peaceful escape, making it a perfect spot to unwind, take in the fresh air, and appreciate the beauty of nature.
*Spending time at Baan Suan Gong was such a relaxing and enjoyable experience. The combination of delicious food, beautiful nature, and fun activities made this place more than just a café—it felt like a peaceful retreat where you can truly unwind.
I especially loved the serene lotus pond, the friendly geese, and the charming little nature walk, which added to the unique charm of the place. Whether you’re looking for a cozy spot to enjoy a meal, a fun activity for kids, or simply a quiet escape surrounded by greenery, this café has something for everyone.
If you ever find yourself in Phang Nga, I highly recommend stopping by Baan Suan Gong for a relaxing break. It’s the perfect spot to enjoy good food, a peaceful atmosphere, and a touch of nature—all in one place!
