RE: Pine processionary - not to be touched!

in Hive España 🇪🇸26 days ago (edited)

Hi @mipiano, although I doubt that spring exists in all of Spain, at least this year, processionary caterpillars can be a serious health problem. I have some bad experience from childhood. In my neighborhood there are quite a few parks and a pine forest and in the 80,s used to appear in spring hundreds of processionaries. I suppose that the problem disappeared with fumigation or some other measure. But in those years it was rare the friend who did not have some bad experience with these living beings.

Thanks for the warning. Best regards.

Oh, so you already had bad experience with them. 😬 I hope it was not serious. At the moment I tried not even get close to them (not closer than what was needed to take a photo of the nest) but already had friends and now this student with allergic reactions when they close to the caterpillars.

My pleasure, I will try to post from time to time 😉
