Being a diabetic made me finally end my bad habbit of life. I mean, I limit myself from eating junk food, minimize simple carbohydrates, and start exercising. That has been happening for almost 3 years.
It is not easy, for 28 years I have lived unhealthy, not knowing nutrition and balanced food and being lazy to move, I got this degenerative disease at a young age. It makes me sad because of my own stupidity. In fact, I can't even eat one cup of ice cream anymore or even eat the candy I like anymore.
If you follow me on hive, you know I always post some of my activities on activit almost every day. I started going to the gym center, cross fit and even cardio like jogging at least 3 km every day. However, do you know that all that I do is actually meaningless without healthy food?
This is where I will discuss a little about how I prepare my best food that I can do, for a week to stock food based on what is available in the traditional market.
I start from the most important, stock of animal protein from various types. Actually, I eat the most chicken, as much as 400 grams every day. According to the advice of the coach and nutritionist, I eat 2 grams of protein times my body weight. It takes about 120 grams of protein. I take that from 400 grams of chicken breast which has about 120 grams of protein.
However, sometimes I get really bored of eating chicken almost every day. So I decided to make meal prep, where I cross between eating chicken with other animal proteins. As in the picture, I buy beef, fish, and also seafood.
With the 3 types of protein above, I make sure that my daily protein is sufficient. However, I also buy some processed foods such as meatballs, which will later be mixed with beef, most likely I will make meatballs and soup.
The seafood I buy is squid, this is the type of seafood that is easiest to get in traditional markets. I will grill it, so I have sprinkled the chicken and squid with special seasoning for grilling. Marinated and put in the refrigerator, so when I want to eat it I will only take it out at night, then in the morning I bake it in the oven.
Not only buying animal protein, I also prepare some plant-based ingredients, as a nutritional balance, macro in fiber, micro in vitamins and minerals. It's good for you guys, we need to maintain balance in your intestines, so your pancreas doesn't work too hard.
I not only buy some vegetables, such as beans, bean sprouts, carrots and spinach, buying tofu and tempeh is also a habit. Sometimes this is a compliment to add other proteins to food. I like protein because they are filling and make my muscles recover quickly.
