You'd probably think it's odd that a post with a picture of a delicious-looking slice of pizza has a title bashing it, right? I love pizza. I could live on pizza for a week straight. I'm not a pizza snob, but even I have standards when it comes to pizza.
I'm not into naming and shaming, so the restaurant I visited will simply be called "Pizza Place" for the purposes of my semi-rant.
I knew about Pizza Place, since I've passed it a few times. I had just finished up a meeting and decided to grab pizza for lunch. I normally grab a slice from the Costco down the road, but I'm not really a fan of crowds.
I went in and ordered a single slice of Pepperoni and a can of soda. The whole order came to $6.35 with tax. That's pretty steep considering slice of Costco pizza only costs $1.99. I wasn't thrilled with the cost, but at this point I didn't want to waste more time driving to Costco.
The pizza slice was massive. They sell a 28" New York-style pizza and it looks like they sliced one up and reheat the slices in the pizza oven when you order them.
And the verdict is...
The crust was good. The Pepperoni was decent. The cheese was fine. The sauce, however, had very little flavor to it, and very little of it. All I could really taste was cheese and Pepperoni.
It certainly wasn't the worst pizza I've had, but it was far from the best. I certainly won't be going back to Pizza Place. Even pizza from places like Pizza Hut and Little Caesar's has more flavor. Oh well. Lesson learned.
