Last night, I was clueless about what to eat so I revisited the Springleaf area to check on the restaurants that I hadn’t tried before. I was prepared to eat Briyani, Yong Tau Foo, or Kway Chap however, when I passed by the Bak Ku Teh shop I was encouraged to check the menu.
I think they did a clever job of leaving menus on the table so that the people who are just passing by will be able to check on what they offer.
As soon I sat down, the waiter or owner came to me and asked for my order. The pork ribs with prawn noodles look good but it’s out of stock so I went for the Chicken in Sesame Oil clay pot.
In the clay pot are 5 pieces of wings and it only costs S$7.00. I would say that it was more expensive than I thought because the chicken wings were not that big. However, the small portion was compensated by the bug flavors of this dish.
It was still sizzling hot when it arrived at my table so I took a few minutes of pause until it settled down.
Together with this dish is a bowl of rice for an additional cost of S$0.70.
I also received a complimentary herbal soup which is very good. It tasted nice, and rich, with a hint of bitterness to it because of the herbs that were boiled together with it.
The chicken wings are tender and they taste rich because of the sauce. It’s so good that I poured it on the rice. The flavor of the sauce has a dominant sesame taste.
It’s already 8:00 PM and there are still customers who are coming to dine. It’s a simple place but because of the good food, they have a lot of loyal customers.
