Roasted Meat Rice at Wong Chiew Eating House

The Springleaf never cease to amaze me when it comes to legitimately good restaurants or eating places. Today, I just discovered a new food gem and it’s a Hong Kong style restaurant that is hidden in the quiet district of the city. This is the kind if restaurants that you have know it from someone who has been there before, a “word of mouth” marketing or be lost to accidentally discover it. The latter happened to me as I explore further beyond the Springleaf Nature Park.

As I walk further after the park, I noticed a signboard on the upper of the small building that looks like a house. I was eager to try the food they served upon reading that it’s a Hong Kong style restaurant.

They have a huge menu with plenty of delicious look Chinese food. The roasted meat on the display got me interested to give it a try.

What’s noticeable with the ratio of the serving size is that the rice is lesser while the roasted meat looks plenty.

I also order a homemade iced tea with lemon which is a perfect pair for this meal.

The dish comes with a small serving of cucumber, it was nice so I wish that I was served with more of it.

There were 2 types of roasted meat in this dish, the Char Shew which is the sweet-savory kind and roasted pork which is salty & has a crunchy skin.

Both taste great and were cooked to perfection. The Char Shew has a well balanced flavor and it was tender which is a sign of a good dish of this kind.

Of course, a nice condiment to it is the pickled green chili which is my favorite type because it has a subtle spice level and the tanginess pairs well with roasted meat.

I will definitely come back to try dimsum because I heard from the other customers that it was good.
