To me, Indonesian style feels really close to congee, except the rice is cooked plain. The real difference is the condiments and sauces, which vary by region. In my area, for example, a lot of places serve it with a turmeric chicken broth poured on top.

Now that sounds delicious! Thanks for informing me - I'll seek it out next time I'm in indo! Is the rice still 'broken' and kinda mushy like congee rice?
