in Foodies Bee Hive2 months ago

Hello foodies!
I hope everyone is doing great.

In today's blog I'll share a recipe to prepare Aalu Paratha. In Punjabi household it's a common breakfast and they can't live without it. It's a big statement I understand but the recipe is so easy as well as the Parathas are so delicious that once you prepare it, you will crave for it again and again. I have seen my mom preparing it for us, but now as I'm away from home I suddenly had this urge to eat it and and prepared it for myself. You can have it with pickle, lassi, curd and with tomato chutney. I love to eat it with Ghee only.

Ingredients:

1/2 Kg Potatoes
Desi Ghee
1 Large Onion
2 chillies
1 kg Wheat flour
1 Spoon Red Chilly Power
Salt
1 Spoon Coriander Power

All these together make magic and satisfies your craving. It's healthy, yummy and easy to prepare.

Procedure:

Wash and cut your potatoes into half. This is a simple trick to cook your potatoes easily and faster.

Im using pressure cooker to boil and cook them, you can also use any utensil and pan to boil potatoes.

20250130_132526.jpg

Put them on a low heat and it will take atleast 20 minutes for them to cook properly. After you hear 3-4 whistle, turn off the gas. Now it's time to prepare your dough of wheat flour. For that you have to mix it with water. In half kg of flour you will add 2 cut water. And according to the texture you can add more.

This is how the dough turned out, now let it rest for 10 minutes, so that it mixes well and you get a uniform texture.

20250130_134816.jpg

Until then chop 1 onion into very fine pieces as it will go inside the dough and to get uniform shape it should be finely chopped.

Now take out the boiled potatoes and start to peal the outer layer of the potatoes. It will come out easily if you have boiled them properly.

Also crush the potatoes with your hand and add some green chillies, coriander powder, red chilly powder, salt, and onion to it.

How how beautiful and colourful it turns out. You can aslo add some green coriander in it. I skipped cause my brother doesn't like it.

Finally its turn to prepare it. Put the pan on the stove and let it heat for a while.

This is all the final product you need and let's start with the dough. You have to take a some dough and start to make a ball out of it.

With the help of dry flour press it and make it round, just like shown in the picture below.

Now add the aalu paste in it and close it. Again roll it with the help of roller and give it a proper shape and sixe.

Put the Paratha in the heated pan and let it cook from both side. It will take atleast two minutes.

Now you can add Desi Ghee in it so that it becomes crunchy too. And Desi Ghee add a taste which is completely unbeatable.

And this is how it will look finally. I usually prepare this on Sunday cause i personally think its time consuming but cause of a sudden urge in me I prepare it today.

It took me almost half an hour to prepare it. If you are preparing it for the first time you can take some help. Also as i mentioned earlier, you can have it simply whith Ghee or with any vegetable, curd or lassi. Lassi is quite famous in Punjab. I also love it and it's good for the gut health too. I my upcoming logs I'll share more about it, so stay tuned. And that's all for today's blog, hope you guys enjoy. Do let me know if you try this recipe at your home.

Thank you so much for your time and reading it.
See yaa!
