South Asian Cuisine | That ✨Heavenly✨ Slice of Baklava and One Crackly Bite of Pani Puri! 😌

in Foodies Bee Hivelast month (edited)

Hello, Foodies ✨

Lately I am doomscrolling about food...😌

Anything about food- like street food, cooking, recipes~ I used to order food. Now, I am trying to cook at home, even though I am not of a good cook. ☺️

I want to level up my cooking skills and take on the more complicated ones, haha! 😆Yeah, I love a bit of a challenge- but maybe when I am not that busy~ 😌

One day, I was craving so hard for South Asian Food like Biryani. I want an authentic Biryani! 😫

Luckily, I found one! ✨

South Asian cuisine is not that popular in my area when compared to East Asia (Korean and Japanese Cuisine).

The Biryani Story

I was surprised that there was just one customer dining in. Hmm, I think the restaurant needed more marketing schemes. The place is clean and well-ventilated. I can already tell this is owned by a South Asian, judging from the restaurant’s atmosphere- the decor, smell, and music

Ahhh I was so excited to order! ✨

The staff approached the table, and we started ordering. I ordered butter chicken biryani, pani puri, and baklava.

While waiting for the food, I scanned the menu, and I was a bit overwhelmed by the range of flavors. Ahhh, if only I had four stomachs, I would order more, haha. 😆 I was still on my first visit to this restaurant and was thinking of my second visit, haha.

The kitchen was quick to send the food out. 🙌🏻

Wahhh, the pani puri looked and smelled so good!😌

biryani story4.jpg

This is my first ever bite, and on a side note, I never researched the recipe or ingredients of this dish, just the image and origin of the food. On this blog, I will try to describe it without prior knowledge, okay? 😁

biryani story8.jpg

The pani puri itself is a hollow ball, in a ping pong ball size. It is very light and has a coarse texture. The filling is a potato or some root. It has a subtle aroma of spices. On the other hand, there was a sweet-sour sauce, which I assumed a vinegar.

I had a hard time cracking the ball on the top portion as I do not like to crack it through. After that, I stuffed the filling using the spoon. Gently, I used the spoon to push the filling further into the ball, and poured the sauce on top. Ate it wholly in one go, and

WOW!

It was like an explosion of flavors in my mouth. It was sweet, sour, and crunchy. I made a mess on my table and blouse but whatever, I was ready for a second!

Next dish was the butter chicken biryani.🥳

It was a heaping bowl of biryani rice and a generous bowl of butter chicken.

The rice was mixed with different spices like cinnamon bark, cashews, and some aromatic leaves. I can’t believe I can eat an authentic South Asian dish without leaving the country.

biryani story10.jpg

First bite! I put an equal portion of the chicken and rice and added a little sauce on top.

The rice itself is flavorful. Fluffy, aromatic, and a bit spicy. The chicken was tender, and the sauce? Oh wow, the star of the night! ✨ Smooth and buttery. ✨ Do not forget to mention the tangy white sauce. 🙌🏻

One bite led to another bite. I cannot stop eating! I lost count, and who cares, haha! 😁

Now time for the dessert!👏🏻

I feel like I have tried baklava before, but for sure it was not as authentic as this one. This mini sweet is layers of pastry with nuts in between, drizzled with syrup.

biryani story6.jpg

I did not want to eat it in one go as I wanted to savor it slowly. Honestly, I was scared to destroy it, haha. 😆 It was too perfect.

biryani story7.jpg

The crunch was satisfying. Even though drizzled with syrup, it was still flaky. I think the nuts were pistachios- just the right amount of nuttiness. Ahhh~ I found another dessert favorite! Yes, definitely!💯✨

Total bill was 540 pesos or 9.62 US dollar.

By the end, I was stuffed! I was so happy to finally try an authentic South Asian cuisine. If ever you have a chance to try this food, take it! 👏🏻

That is it for this food blog. I will see you at the next one!

I want to level up my cooking skills...

That sounds great, I hope soon you will present some of your self-prepared dishes here! 👍

All food in that restaurant looks really delicious, from the "pani puri", the "butter chicken biryani" to the super sweet baklava, hehe! It really makes me hungry to watch these pictures! 😋

I blogged some cooking stuff but those easy fry and boil cooking only haha 🍳😂

The baklava is the 🌟. 😁

tip to self, don't curate when you're hungry. xD

It's a sign to order, bro. Go get it. 😆

Pani puri looks so delicious. 🤗 Hope I can try it soon.

Yes! Super good. 😁 I hope you try some. 😁

I’ve never tried pani puri before, but the way you described it makes me want to. Did you end up having a favorite dish from this meal?

Did you end up having a favorite dish from this meal?

Oh, yes! My new favorite is the baklava. 😁 I ordered twice in different day already, hehe. Perfect with tea.

Ah finally you tried it hehe.

Here is the thing I never got to taste Pani Puri 🥹. It's unavailable in my area but what you described about it is pretty much the popular opinion hehe.

About the Biriyani, I'm disappointed ☹️ because it's not authentic. While preparing the briyani the meat is placed inside the rice to cook along with it so that the flavours of the biryani spread to it so when it's ready the meat is super duper tender and flavourful because it's slow cooked.

This butter chicken seems to be very popular among foreigners so maybe that's why they are selling it since it's a hit haha. Everytime I watch a celebrity interview they will most likely mention butter chicken and naan when someone asks about Indian food xD.

Anyway its a good experience :)

because it's not authentic.

Oh, nooo. 🥲 The owner is a Bangladeshi, so maybe different style. But the chicken was super tender still. 😁

Haha, yeah, the butter chicken is the top on my list! 😆

!PIZZA

Yeah it's the most sought out dish by foreigners haha.

Next time try to got to an Indian or Pakistani resturant. They make it more authentic. Honestly there is a chance that they tweak the spices to accomodate the locals taste. KFC and MC Donald's do that there sadly.

Yummy Yummy
