Even though we have lived in El Salvador for more that 5 years all together, there are still a lot of fruits, veggies and dishes that we have not heard of or tried and this food is just one of those examples.

Semilla de Pan, (Seed of Bread) which we have never heard of or tried before.

In El Salvador, you see a lot of people cooking their foods outside on the fire. That is how people cooked in El Salvador before before, having their kitchens outside, and their stoves and ivens were made out of clay /dirt just like on this picture. This is where the semillas de pan were cooking.

A lot of El Salvadorian people still like to have their outside clay kitchens even if they have a nice indoor kitchen, mostly because it gets too hot cooking outside, and sometimes stincky or somkey, plus it tastes so much better. That is something I also would like to have, once we get our land. An outdoor kitchen, where you can cook your soups, beans, fish, pupusas, tortillas etc.

When the seeds are all cooked, you peel the skin off and eat the inside of it which tastes like potatos and yucca. It's actually really good.

This is how the semillas de pan grow. They grow on this beautiful tree with these big beautiful leaves and the seeds are inside this beautiful green, prickly fruit. So beautiful.

I am a great supporter of - @familyprotection which is working very hard to help the families stay together and this project is the most
amazing project that I would suggest for everyone in this hive community to check it out and support it and by doing it we are helping people in need who are trying to keep their kids safe from being taken away (kidnapped) by the Social Services. Here is the link Click here

Cooking outside on the fire has its charm :))

I have never tried semilla de pan, but cooked, they somehow look like cooked chestnuts

That was my thought too. They totally look like chestnuts.
