Happy Thursday Hivers!
My family, especially my mom and dad, really prefer Filipino dishes. That’s why whenever we take them out for dinner, we rarely choose restaurants that don’t serve Filipino food, they’re simply not used to it and feel like they won’t be satisfied. So whenever they’re with us, we always make sure to dine at places that offer Filipino dishes.
Here in the Philippines, there are so many restaurants offering different international cuisines, probably because a lot of foreigners come here for vacation. Their money has a higher value, and—not to brag—we really do have many beautiful tourist spots. That’s why whenever you go out, you’ll always see plenty of foreigners around.
Hukad Restaurant is one of the places we always go back to. Way back in 2016, during the time when my sibling’s business was doing really well, they were assisting applicants for J1 visas for hospitality courses. There were so many applicants then, and the approval rate for their visas was high.
Since all of us were busy, we preferred to eat out before going home so we could just rest and sleep afterward. Hukad became one of the restaurants we frequently visited during that time. Since then, it’s really been one of the restaurants we keep coming back to.

When we arrived at the restaurant, there were only a few people inside, and the staff greeted us with warm smiles. They looked so pleasant and welcoming that you instantly felt comfortable because of their friendly approach. They handed us the menu right away, but I don’t think we even needed it, because my two siblings practically have their entire menu memorized already.

We ordered a pure watermelon juice, which is something we always get. We really love its taste, the kind where you can truly savor the natural flavor of the watermelon. The sweetness is just right, too.

My siblings really love sisig, so every time we dine at this restaurant, ordering sisig is always a must.

And of course, everyone’s favorite is the monggo. I’m not sure why, but we really love eating it, even when we just ate it, we would still order it every time.

And the last thing we ordered was pochero. We love dishes with a flavorful broth to sip. I don’t know why us Filipinos do this, but no matter how hot our place is, we still enjoy sipping something hot.
This is why we love Hukad Restaurant, it feels just like eating at home, because the taste and style of cooking remind us of our parents’ cooking. Aside from their delicious food, their customer service is also excellent. They genuinely ask if you’re satisfied with your meal or if there’s anything they can improve. That’s really admirable, embracing both positive and negative feedback to improve the business. The food is tasty and truly satisfying, and I also really enjoy the ambiance of the place.

Thank you for reading and see you on my next blog. Cheers!
