Small Sampler

There are many different sweets we can make for the New Year; we can make the most of puff pastry dough, given how easy it is to work with and its delicious flavor. We can use it for many recipes; this time I used it for Christmas to make a ham bread. With the leftover dough, I saved it to make this tasty dessert.

Pequeño Bocadillo De Prueba

Son muchas la variedad de dulces que podemos hacer para estos días del Año Nuevo; podemos aprovechar al máximo la masa de hojaldre, debido a lo manejable que es y con un sabor exquisito. La podemos usar para muchas preparaciones; en esta oportunidad la utilicé para la Navidad, hice un pan de jamón. Con el resto que me quedó, la guardé para hacer este rico postre.

Preparing this dough takes time, as it requires specific steps: adding the butter, rolling it out, and folding it to achieve those layers that, when baked, drive us wild with their texture and crispness. The experience of making it can be quite exciting; sometimes it seems difficult, but afterward, it leaves us with the delightful pleasure of enjoying it. And then we start cutting the portions to make our pastry.

La preparación de esta masa necesita tiempo, ya que es una masa que requiere ciertos pasos al añadirle la mantequilla, al estirarla y al doblarla, para conseguir esas capas que, al hornearla, nos enloquecen con su textura y lo crujiente que queda. La experiencia de prepararla nos da mucha ansiedad; algunas veces nos parece difícil, pero después nos deja ese grato placer de disfrutarla. Cuando comenzamos a cortar las porciones para elaborar nuestro dulce.

To enjoy it, we could serve it as a delicious afternoon snack. We can share it with family over a good cup of coffee, preparing ourselves for the arrival of a new year, which will undoubtedly bring us hope and good wishes, along with good health.

Para degustarlo, podríamos servirlo para una rica merienda. Lo podemos compartir reunidos en familia con un buen café, para prepararnos a la entrada de un nuevo año, que sin duda nos brindará esperanza y buenos deseos, acompañados de mucha salud.


Ingredients:

  • 150 grams puff pastry
  • 150 grams strawberries
  • 4 tablespoons sugar
  • 3 tablespoons water
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 1 tablespoon strawberry puree

Ingredientes:

  • 150 gramos de masa hojaldre
  • 150 gramos de fresas
  • 4 cucharadas de azúcar
  • 3 cucharadas de agua
  • 1 huevo batido
  • 1 cucharada de frutilla

Ingredients Pastry Pastry

  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 70 grams sugar
  • 240 milliliters milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 lemon peel

Ingrediente Pasta Pastelera

  • 1 cucharada de Maizena
  • 70 gramos de azúcar
  • 240 mililitros de leche
  • 1 huevo
  • 1 corteza de limón

Preparation:

Wash the strawberries and chop them into pieces; set some aside. Place them in a saucepan, add the water and sugar, and make a syrup, stirring constantly until it thickens. Once it boils or bubbles, remove from the heat and let it cool.

Preparación:

Lavamos las fresas y picamos en trozos; reservamos algunos trozos, colocamos en una olla, vertemos el agua, el azúcar y hacemos un almíbar, removiendo constantemente, hasta que vaya espesando. Una vez que hierva o haga burbujas, retiramos del fuego y dejamos reposar.

Meanwhile, roll out the dough and use any object to cut out shapes for the small pastries. Once you've finished making them, brush them with egg yolk so they turn golden brown. Bake them in the oven for about 10 minutes, or until golden brown, then remove and set aside.

Mientras tanto, estiramos la masa y con cualquier objeto sacamos formas para hacer los pequeños bocadillos. una vez que terminamos de realizarlos, lo untamos con la amarilla del huevo para que queden dorados. Metemos al horno por unos 10 minutos o hasta que doren, luego sacamos y reservamos.

Pastry Cream:

In a small saucepan, combine an egg, sugar, and cornstarch. Stir well until smooth, then gradually add the milk, stirring constantly. Next, place the saucepan over medium heat and continue stirring until the cream thickens. Once it begins to bubble, after about a minute, remove it from the heat and turn off the heat.

Crema Pastelera:

En una olla pequeña colocamos un huevo, el azúcar, la maicena, revolvemos muy bien hasta integrar y vamos agregando la leche poco a poco sin parar de revolver. Seguidamente, montamos al fuego y seguimos mezclando, hasta que la crema vaya espesando; en este punto, cuando comience a burbujear, pasado un minuto, apagamos y retiramos del fuego.

We immediately place a piece of cling film over it to prevent a skin from forming, let it cool, and put it in the refrigerator.

Inmediatamente le colocamos un papel film por encima para que no se forme la nata, dejamos enfriar y metemos en la nevera.

Finally, we assemble our sandwich, add the fruit, and decorate it with pastry cream using a piping bag. And our sandwich is now ready to enjoy.

Por último, armamos nuestro bocadillo, le colocamos las frutas y, con una manga, adornamos con crema pastelera. Y nuestro bocadillo ya está listo para saborearlo.
