A pangasius fish is called patin in Indonesia. The fish is similar to a catfish but it can grow bigger. The head is smaller than a cat fish so a pangasius fish yields more flesh than a cat fish. The fillet fish is thick and tender.
The price of a kilo of patin is $2. A kilo may contain 3 fishes. This morning I bought two fishes. It was around 600 grams.
Preparing fried fillet
First of all, I should take the fillet of the fish. I did it by myself. I separated the flesh and bones carefully. Then, I cut the fillet into small pieces.
I gave thoses pieces of meat with a pack of seasoned flour. I added a little water to stick the flour. I rolled the meat in dry flour that had been seasoned.
I fried the wrapped meat in a frying pan with medium heating. I waited until the color changed to be brownish.
Time to make the sauce
I sliced two red onions , a chilli, and a garlic. I added a teaspoon of salt. I sauteed the sliced onions and garlic. I added some tomatoe sauce, soy bean, and oyster sauce. The sweet and sour sauce was ready in a few minutes.
I put the fried meat in the sauce and mixed them. The pangasius fish fillet was ready.
How to enjoy the pangasius fillet?
I took a cup of rice and some slices fo carrots. I added with two slices of fillet with the sweet and sour sauce. If you do not eat rice, you can enjoy with bread, mashed potatoes or pasta. The fillet fish is a source of protein so you can pair with some sources of carbohydrate you like. Thanks!
