Blame my fall from the health food wagon on the Shongweni Market!

A friend and I visited the popular Shongweni Farmers and Crafters Market amid sugar cane fields up on a hill in the Shongweni Valley a couple of weeks ago, which I shared with you shortly afterward.

We had seen fabulous local crafts and then discovered a gastronomic experience. We'd not had breakfast, wrong time to be food shopping. We wanted everything we laid our eyes on!

The Grater Plater

An innovative beautiful ceramic tool made by a crafter who loves cooking caught our attention before we went on to the food. The grater plater crushes everything that needs crushing or grating in food preparation.

Especially for breakfast or brunch - Mediterranean Vegetable, Chicken Prego, Full English Breakfast...what shall I have?

Smoked Meats and Sausage Specialties

Mushrooms

Freshly picked mushrooms always sell out quickly, the stall holder could not keep up with unpacking as they literally flew off the shelves.

Nuttela Pancakes

No market worth its salt can be called such if there are no pancakes! I had a cinnamon & sugar pancake.

Creamy Delectable Homemade Fudge

...of every kind; Turkish Delight, Milo, Rolo, Licorice, Cashew & Cranberry, Matcha...and the list goes on. I bought a couple of different flavours, all absolutely delicious, but my favourite still is the Triple Caramel Salted.
The charming young man did not mind having his photo taken and even permitted me to use it in my blog.

Blame it on the market, blame it on the food, but the blame lies solely on my shoulders, who can resist such temptations?

Foda wants to cook the mushrooms, it looks like stir-frying would be really good 😃.

Sweets are also very tempting!

You're right @nurfay, everything was way too tempting. I should not have bought any of those sweet treats. Stir fry would be way healthier and delicious 😋

Next time I go, I'll steer well clear of the sweet temptations and will be taking more olives home.

Oh wow! That does all look so delicious and tempting! I'd pass on the olives, but I bet my husband would love those. A biltong stuffed olive? That's wild! Ha! The fudge looks amazing and the grater plater is a pretty creative idea! Thanks for sharing all the yummy looking food!

I asked my husband and he said that he would try them. Ha! 😉 I'm a sucker for sweets! I'd have a hard time turning away some sugary treat.

Oh my gosh Lizelle - triple salted fudge - I would go crazy for all of those - and those grater plates look amazing - what a lovely blog - and biltong stuffed olives - oh let me not drool more!!
