Hello Foodies Bee Hive . I hope everyone is well. Again I'm here after a very long time with an amazing food which is "kalavuna" . This is the ultimate insanely amazing food which I have ever tasted.
Kalabhuna from Rajshahi's Nowhata is very famous and unique in taste. It is made with beef, and uses thick spices, local ghee and a long roasting technique, which makes the meat tender and spicy, and produces a thick dark-colored gravy.
Compared to Kalavuna from other places, the Kalavuna of Noohanta is much spicier, aromatic and its aroma and taste lingers in the mouth for a long time. It is usually served with rice.
As you can see in the picture, the curry is quite thick and dark in color, just like the original style of Nowahanta. There are also several restaurants which are famous for Kala Bhuna, I went to - “Ripon Hotel & Kala Bhuna”
There are many shops in this Nowahata that sell Kalabhuana, each shop serves a lot of customers, and the taste also has a different aroma because it is cooked in a big pot. And the taste increases many times due to cooking in a clay oven.
In front of the Kalabhuna shops, there’s an old betel leaf (paan) shop that has been around for many years. And after enjoying hot Kalabhuna with steaming rice, having a spicy paan gives the perfect finishing touch to the meal, leaving you with a satisfied belch. Altogether, you can have a full meal within just 200 to 250 taka.
Although beef kalabhuna is available in many places in Bangladesh, I have not found anywhere else that tastes as good as the kalabhuna of Nowhata, Rajshahi. If you are a true lover of beef like me , you should definitely try this kalavuna at least once in your life . I bet you won't regret after having this .
