That day I returned to my hometown, there was a celebration at my neighbor's wedding. Well, right before the event they invited me and gave me the event schedule. It just so happened that the event coincided with my work holiday so I was able to attend the event.
Party celebrations in my hometown still use strong traditions and customs. Usually the day before the event, neighbors and village people have gathered at the house hosting the event. To cook together the menu that will be prepared on the day the party starts. This time the party was held for the bride. So, the evening before the party the next day, local people also came to the house. However, the unique thing about that night was that we, the girls, also came to the bride and groom's house.
Party Night
The main goal of the evening for the girls is to accompany the bride. To prepare for the next day, here we girls have to make napkins or tissues in various shapes. So our creativity here started to be at stake, I, as the oldest girl among my friends, started giving instructions on what to make. We make various shapes of tissue from palm flower shapes to pineapple shapes.
Here the other friends make beautiful hand wipes. I started arranging one by one the sides of the series into a small bowl. So, when forming, it requires special precision and patience until the tissue is formed to the final stage.
Well, it was interesting that night when I made tissue in various shapes.
we are very satisfied with the very beautiful final result. Both tissue in glass and tissue in the shape of a pineapple.

On the night of the celebration there is also a special delicious food treat. We were served a dish of corn cooked with sticky rice. Now the sticky corn is steamed until cooked then covered with grated coconut.
Interestingly, there are also other snacks in the form of snacks that are bought here, often known as kipang gring.
Snacks without drinks are incomplete, right? We were also served coffee and tea, because I like black coffee so I chose to drink hot black coffee. The taste is very delicious, especially the sticky rice corn is really delicious and I really like it.
After finishing enjoying the meal, it wasn't long before we finished making the tissues for the wedding guests' dishes. At that moment, I didn't forget to take a photo of the tissue that had been shaped and of course we started taking photos together.
Wedding Party Celebration
That morning, around 10 am we started arriving at the event again. I started to see lots of guests coming. Well, because I haven't eaten at home, and deliberately to eat at a party, I started adding several dishes here.
There are various menus served to guests, in the form of beef bone curry sauce, pecal vegetables, beef curry, dried orek tempeh, salted eggs, and Balinese chili tuna.
The menus are very varied and have extraordinary tastes, in my opinion they are all very delicious. And it has amazing taste. Even though it is cooked in large portions, our village women cook it with the right flavors and spices so it tastes very delicious.
I started adding white rice to the plate, and added all the menu variants on the table. So here I didn't add salted egg because I don't like it.
Beef Bone Gulai a
And Beef Curry
I started to enjoy it, I think everything can't lie. The beef is very soft and the curry sauce is delicious, and the most special thing is the beef bone curry sauce which is cooked with pieces of young banana.
Beef bone Gulai Cooked with special spices, well this sauce is indeed cooked thin. The oil itself in gulai comes from beef bones and fat cooked in a large skillet.
Beef curry is cooked with selected herbs and spices combined with thick coconut milk. Tender meat and the aroma of spices in a creamy sauce is very delicious combined with warm white rice. This dish is very special and is cooked during celebrations or big events like this.
Interestingly, in our area, the cooking and processing of beef is done by the gentlemen or all the men in the village. So, this moment is cooked together in mutual cooperation without expecting anything in return from the owner of the house. It's really exciting, isn't it, this is one of the traditions of helping each other in my area that still exists today.
Pecal Vegetables and Orek Tempeh
Pecal vegetables and orek tempeh are one of the complete dishes at the party. Usually we add a lot to the menu, so that guests who don't like vegetables can choose something else.
Well, pecal vegetable itself is a combination of several vegetables such as cassava leaves, long beans, papaya flowers and also long beans. All these vegetables are boiled and then seasoned with cooked peanut sauce. Maybe you will be familiar with this menu because I have made this dish before.
Different from pecal vegetables, tempeh orek is a side dish that is cooked dry.
Usually this orek tempeh is made with red chili sauce without using shallots and tomatoes, this will create a crunchy taste in the tempeh.
Salted Egg And Balinese Spiced Cob
Have you ever heard of salted eggs, salted eggs in my area are usually made from real duck eggs fermented with salt. Usually the process takes 10 to 14 days for maximum saltiness. Interestingly, salted eggs can be prepared for various dishes. However, in my area, for sacred events like this, it is served boiled to guests.
The taste of these salted eggs, salty and savory, is very suitable to be enjoyed with rice. Apart from that, salted eggs have a very delicious red egg texture, they are softer and have a different taste from ordinary boiled eggs. What's unique is that salted eggs are not fishier at all than ordinary boiled duck eggs.
Balinese spiced tuna is a fried tuna dish that is wet fried and then cooked with Balinese chili sauce. This Balinese chili sauce has a sweet, spicy and slightly sour taste. The attractive color and the combination of chopped onions make it very delicious.
Apart from the main menu, there is a dessert menu, namely serabi and fresh water. I took one portion of serabi with coconut milk sauce. The taste of the soup is not very good, in my opinion it is not sweet enough. However, the taste of the serabi is very soft and perfectly done.

So friends, those are the various dishes for weddings in the area where I live. Here, a menu like this is very luxurious and usually this menu is served by event owners who have sufficient finances. However, for simple parties, usually only simple menus are available and they are certainly no less delicious.
