RE: I made Irish Apple Cake!

in Foodies Bee Hive6 days ago

Looks really good! I have some frozen peach wedges that would go well in this. Thanks for the idea!

I make large batches of struesel, enough for a dozen cobblers or cakes like this one, and keep it in the fridge to use as needed. It lasts for a good month for me, making putting one of these cakes together even easier. I eat a LOT of cobbler, my favorite breakfast of all.

Ohh I have never had cobbler before, it sounds just wonderful. Is it similar with apple crumble? Cause from the Internet, they seem to be? Fruit filling underneath with this struesel thing on top? I actually have crumble next on my list as some people at the party requested it so it's a promise for next time :D I hope your peaches go well with this, I see no reason why they shouldn't. And I hope also you are well, lovely lady.

Thank you! I'm doing well, my daughters are doing well, my garden is charging up out of the ground and my seedlings inside look great. Who could ask for more?

Yes, cobbler is just fruit with sugar, spices, and a thickener (I use tapioca flour), baked with struesel on top. Love the stuff, always have. It's almost strawberry rhubarb time in the northeastern US. Today I have an apple-pear cobbler in the oven.
