Importance of water leaf

Good day lovelies
So i woke up this this beautiful morning , went to my mother's garden to collect some curry leaves that i will be using in preparing my breakfast of yam and egg sauce then i came across this healthy water leaves in my mom's water leaf garden

Water leaf has been my best vegetable so far. So during my secondary school days, my teacher was teaching us the botanical names of some plants. After her teaching, i rose and asked her a particular question,
I asked "ma you have told us botanical names of many plants but i think u skipped my favorite" she answered with a smiling face and asked" which of them my darling"
With curiosity in my face i answered " water leaf ma"
Then it dawned to the whole class that i have water leaf as my favorite vegetable. Without wasting much time ,she told me that the botanical name of water leaf is Talinum triangulare since then the botanical name of water leaf has been stacked in my head.

Water leaf has many health benefits it is a good source of nutrients and helps in hydration and digestion
It contains many nutrients in which some of them are

  1. Vitamin C that reduces the risk of developing Alzheimer's disease
  2. Iron that helps prevent anaemia
  3. Vitamin A that helps slow the progression of retinal disease and reduce the risk of cataracts
  • Water leaf helps in hydration: High water content that keeps you refreshed and nourished.
    *Digestion: Helps speed up the elimination of feces during indigestion.
    *Cancer prevention: Antioxidant activity may help prevent cancer and tumor growth.
    *Stroke prevention: Regular consumption may help reduce the risk of contacting stroke
    *Diabetes management: High dietary content helps to slow down digestion and conversion of starch to simple sugar.
    *Cholesterol reduction: Diegary fiber helps to reduce absorption of cholesterol from the guts..

Water leaf is mostly used to cook soup in this part of the world am from (Nigeria)
It is also used to prepare vegetable sauce
It can also be used to prepare juices, smoothies or other beverages

Your mom's water leave is really thriving,is grown and well norished even when we are out of its season,she is really taking good care of it.

Woahh I never knew water leaf has this much benefit. I've always viewed it as a low nutrient plant because it's common.
