Celebrating milestones, big or small, is a cherished tradition in our family. So when my son achieved first place in the frog jump event during his school's annual sports day, it called for a special treat.
Unfortunately, my husband couldn't join us during the event due to work commitments, but we were determined to make the celebration memorable nonetheless. So when he called up for lunch at a nearby restaurant, we didn't hesitate to join!
The name of the place is 'Old19', a popular hangout spot known for its youthful ambiance and delectable offerings. Despite being lunchtime, the restaurant was surprisingly empty, and we were greeted warmly by the staff. My husband, being familiar with the place, ensured that our experience was nothing short of exceptional.
To kick off our celebratory meal, we were treated to a refreshing tamarind drink, the perfect antidote to the scorching sun we had endured during the sports event. It was a delightful start that set the tone for the culinary journey ahead.
For starters, we opted for a Thai soup accompanied by spring rolls and wontons. While the soup could have been slightly improved, the generosity of the restaurant owner was evident as he compensated with extra wontons, ensuring our satisfaction.
Moving on to the main course, we decided to indulge in a set lunch platter, the only available option at the time. The platter comprised flavorsome fried rice, succulent Thai chicken, crisp vegetables, a refreshing salad, and soft drinks to wash it all down. The food was commendable, earning a solid 8 out of 10 rating from us.
Despite the tempting spread, my son, understandably tired from the day's activities, only managed a few bites before drifting off for a well-deserved nap. I packed up his meal to enjoy later at home, ensuring that the celebration continued even after we left the restaurant.
As a first-time visitor to 'Old19,' I was impressed not only by the delectable food but also by the inviting ambiance of the establishment. The restaurant's transparent surroundings, adorned with large glass windows, created a rooftop-like vibe, adding to the overall charm of the experience.
What truly stood out, aside from the delicious fare, was the reasonable pricing of the food, making it an accessible treat for families looking to celebrate special occasions without breaking the bank.
