Tucked away in the lush hills of Garing, Consolacion, Kuma Bamboo Cafe is the kind of place that makes you feel like you've stumbled upon a secret hideout. Imagine a treehouse-like retreat with panoramic mountain views, bamboo interiors, and rattan furniture that effortlessly blends into nature. It’s the perfect escape for those craving a scenic dining experience. While they call it a cafe, I’d say it’s more of a Filipino feast destination—with an extensive menu packed with comfort food and (for now) a limited selection of coffee and pastries. But don’t let that stop you, because this hidden gem is definitely worth the trip!
The first thing you’ll notice about Kuma Bamboo Cafe is its breathtaking location—it’s perched on a mountainside, giving you an overlooking view that’s perfect for an afternoon escape or a sunset date. From afar, it resembles a giant treehouse, blending beautifully with nature thanks to its bamboo interiors and rattan furniture. The ambiance is cozy and refreshing, making it a must-visit for those who love aesthetic spots.
Since we arrived early and were craving coffee, we were a bit bummed to find out that Kuma Bamboo Cafe wasn’t serving coffee yet (soft opening blues!). But here’s the good part—they actually allow you to bring coffee from their neighboring cafe, Nanda Cafe, without a corkage fee! So, off we went to grab our iced lattes from Nanda before heading back to enjoy our meal.
Now, let’s talk about the real star—the food! Kuma Bamboo Cafe has an extensive menu filled with Filipino comfort food and even pizza for those looking for a snack. The prices are quite affordable, making it a great spot for both casual dining and special gatherings.
What We Ordered:
- Bagoong Rice – A huge serving, perfect for 3-4 people.
- Pinakupsan Bagnet Sisig – A deliciously crispy and flavorful dish.
- Salmon Teriyaki – Surprisingly comes with rice and a generous portion.
- Coconut Chicken Halang-Halang – A creamy and mildly spicy dish also served with rice.
- Drinks: Watermelon Shake & Green Mango Shake – Refreshing and a perfect match for the meal!
Honestly, we didn’t expect the Salmon Teriyaki and Chicken Halang-Halang to come with rice, so paired with our bagoong rice, we ended up having an unintentional rice party! 😂
Is It Worth the Visit?
Absolutely! But there’s a catch—getting there might be a challenge if you don’t have your own vehicle. The location is quite far from the main road, making public transportation tricky. However, if you can arrange a ride, the view, food, and ambiance make it worth the journey.
I highly recommend going around 3 PM so you can enjoy snacks, watch the sunset, and stay for dinner. The cool mountain breeze and the golden hour lighting make it an IG-worthy experience.
Kuma Bamboo Cafe is a promising new dining destination for those who love nature, good food, and cozy aesthetics. Once they fully open and introduce coffee options, I can see it becoming a top go-to spot in Consolacion. For now, take advantage of their coffee-friendly policy and don’t forget to bring some from Nanda Cafe! 😉
