Staying a small town does not allow us to enjoy some delicies of big brands food restaurant. In big cities, food outlets like Haldiram, Bikanerwala are quite common easily available. These restaurant got popularity because of their good quality food and dishes. They maintain their standard and it is alwsys enjoyable to treat yourself at any given point of time. So when I visited Delhi, on a very short trip to Delhi, I could not resist myself from savoring the delight of Raj Kachori.
Raj kachori is a popular snack in North India because of its rich flavors, crispy texture, and royal name. The word "raj" means "royal" or "grand" in Hindi, which may refer to the rich stuffing of the kachori. It is assumed that this popular dish was originated in Bikaner, Rajasthan and can be dated back to 1613.
Raj kachoris are deep-fried until crispy. Raj kachoris are filled with a variety of savory and tangy ingredients like potatoes, yogurt, spices, and chutneys. They are often topped with sev (crispy chickpea noodles), pomegranate seeds, and fresh herbs.
As I was eager to finish the full plate, I managed to take few picture. From a full kachori bowl to broken and mixed with the curds. Here are few of the photos.
Raj kachoris are often served as part of a chaat with other ingredients like boiled potatoes, dahi, black chana, papdi, green chutney, and tamarind chutney. This is what make people to tempt for this dish. As you will blend the kachori and mix it, you alwsys get tye delightful taste with every spoon. I thoroughly enjoyed this dish after long time.
Peace!!
