Well Hello There FoodLovers!
I'm betting most of you thought I was done for when it came down to cooking and baking! Nope the "Men Can Also Bake" series will not come to an abrupt end!
It almost did though, I've all but forgotten about my cooking and baking adventures! So for today I got something easy and cheap to share today!
Easy and cheap and it's a cinnabon! Well a knock of version of it to say the least. Although that is besides the point right!
As I Said It's Basic.
There isn't really a recipe to this, well not unless you make your own dough.
We decided to buy some dough that's already prepped, after all we are seeking a quick and cheap method here.
What You Need.
- Dough (I bought two packs so that we can make a bunch.)
- Butter
- Sugar (We only bought a 2kg for the house, you don't need more than 500g)
- Cinnamon
- Cream (For a topping sauce afterwards, although it can be enjoyed without the cream sauce as well. Optional.)
The Prepping Of It All.
So there's no need to tell you that while we're getting everything ready the oven should already be on the preheating phase. Well that depends on how fast you work. You'll have to figure that one out on your own!
180 degrees celcius on that oven there mate!
Okay so first thing is first, cover the surface that you will be working on with flour. It helps a great deal for the dough not to stick to everything and make one big mess!
The Rolling Out!
First thing that you want to do after spreading the flour would be to roll it out as thin as you can get it! Upon writing this I don't think I rolled it out thin enough! I have some chunkers their in the oven!
It's not a problem if you didn't roll them out properly but do try your best.
The Butter.
After the roll out you can cover the entire face of the dough with butter. You can decide how you want to add this, little by little with a spoon or grab a handfull of butter and smear it everywhere.
Easy easy!
The Cinnamon.
This was the Betty's doing, but we are going with this now! In my opinion it feels like we went a little overboard with the cinnamon on it but I ain't got no problem with that!
Add cinnamon and try and spread it evenly enough.
The Sugar!
Now all the men out there listen up, the woman won't agree with this one but you can literally just grab a hand full of sugar and sprinkle it all over that dough! To your own preference!
Just remember one thing, real men have clean hands!
Evenly Spread Everywhere?
Well no but try your best to spread it evenly, it wont be easy and it sure as hell isn't a must. But we do try to make things perfect right? Everytime!
Cutting And Rolling!
The cutting up and rolling them into they pieces is probably the most annoying part of this entire bake session. That is why the surface you work on needs to be properly floured!
Otherwise the dough makes for a sticky situation!
You can however cut them up and roll them in any fashion you prefer but why not the classic cinnabon roll.
The First Lot!
Before you add them into the pan, make sure you buttered up the pan nicely. Again just grab a handfull of butter and smear it everywhere!
After that, well just space them around in the pan so that each has a little space for expansion!
We Still Had Some Preparing Work!
Remember we bought two bags of dough and we mean to use all of it! ALL OF IT!
Honestly we did make a whole bunch and what you is not what you get! You get a lot more as these things rise while they are baked!
Ready For The Oven
Hopefully at this point your oven is already pre-heated to temperature. If so you can just stick them in the oven and keep an eye on them. Ours was about 25 to 30 minutes before they were done!
Hmmmm Nice!
Okay, so there is room for a lot of improvement, for starters to roll out the dough even more, it was a little too thick but that's hardly the biggest problem. We could add a tad more sugar aswell, that would never hurt hey. The cinnamon was just perfect if you ask me.
Yeah it doesn't look the best at all I know, but damn the sauce we threw over it was very damn nice! We never really planned on the sauce being there in the first place.
