Pork Bistek

Pork Steak or Pork Bistek is one of the classic dishes of we, Filipinos loves to eat, it was commonly served in different occasions like in birthdays, thanksgiving, beach outing, weddings, fiestas, reunion parties and even in the normal days in the Philippines. It was a perfect dish that you and your family would surely love because of its rich savory taste that you'll definitely won't get bored eating again and again. Yes! again and again, and I assure you that.

Allow me to share to you the ingredients that I used for the dish, those are:

  • Pork
  • Carrot
  • Onion
  • Garlic
  • Ginger
  • Oyster Sauce
  • Soy Sauce
  • MSG ( any kind of MSG will do but I prefer Magic Sarap because I'm Filipino 😎 )
  • Black Pepper ( ground )
  • Banana Ketchup ( optional )

First thing you need to do is slice the meat because no one would want to eat a whole meat in their pork bistek, slice it into proportionate parts then mince the garlic and the ginger. After slicing the pork and chopping the species, you'll need to marinate it to achieve the perfect savory taste.

Marinate the pork in a mixing bowl then add the recados; add in the pork, the ginger, the garlic, the msg, the soy sauce, the oyster sauce and then add the banana ketchup it's only optional if you don't like banana ketchup but I included it so that I won't use sugar for a balanced taste of the dish. After mixing it all together, place it into an airtight container and put it on the fridge overnight to let the sauce penetrate into the meat.

You can also cook it in the same day that you marinated your pork, but I prefer more flavor. With nothing left to do, I watched my favorite anime on the bed and wait for tomorrow to cook the marinated pork.

I woke up 5:30 in the morning, started my morning routine, I always start my day with a prayer and devotionals and then after it, I went outside to get rayed by the sunlight and went to the kitchen to make breakfast, guess what I'm making, it's the pork bistek haha. Don't be surprised, it's the kind of breakfast here in the Philippines.

To begin with, I sliced the carrot in a slanting way to have a good appearance and chopped the onion horizontally to achieve a ring-like cut. The preparations to cook Pork Bistek is all done.

It's cooking time!

Heat the oil in a pan then put the sliced pork, fry till it's cooked set aside and remove the excess oil ( don't throw away the marinating sauce yet for we'll be needing it )

Add the chopped garlic, the chopped onions, and then add the carrots. When it starts to release its aromatic smell from the seasonings, add on the fried pork and then pour in the marinating sauce into the pan.

Simmer it then add a small amount of water and black pepper for additional taste. Wait for a few minutes and there it is, it was perfectly cooked with love.

Serve it while steaming and it was best paired with rice ( because I'm Filipino, rice is life ).

If you have noticed that I didn't add measurements in the dish it's all because I did not rely on measurements, I only pour the contents or the measurements that is in my heart, it was called instincts.

I hope that you have learned something from this dish, what are you waiting for? Try it now!
Stay tuned for the upcoming mouthwatering dish that I'll be sharing with you, it would be my please to do so.
Cherrio!
