Sweet Surprise in Every Vetvety Slice.

Yesterday was my daughter's birthday, and I made her a surprise cake! She only wanted doughnuts but I made her cake anyway. She was overjoyed! I am sharing the recipe because it's delightfully tasty!

I used to order cakes every time there was an occasion, but it was more hassle than making it myself. A few times, the cakes I ordered were nicely decorated, and my visitors couldn't wait to taste them. However, upon slicing and serving them, the cakes themselves were awfully baked, leaving us upset. So, I took it upon myself to bake my own, and we can choose any flavors and frostings we like.

Just like a cake, looks can be deceiving; what's important is the inside. ;)

This cake is a traditional red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting. I used organic coloring, and it's not as red as it should be, but the taste is amazing!

I'm not good at decorating, so I simply adorned it with fresh flowers and sprinkled some cake crumbs on top.

The cake itself is moist and tender, with a subtle cocoa undertone that add depths to the velvety texture.

In every mouthful, you will enjoy the gentle tanginess from buttermilk and vinegar, perfectly balancing the sweetness of the cake.

Then, there's the richness of the cream cheese frosting, with its creamy and slightly tangy contrast to the sweetness. Just as I wanted, a harmonious blend of flavors that leaves everyone satisfied and coming back for more!

Everyone loved the taste. It just goes to show, sometimes simpler is better.

How I made it: 🎂

I tweaked this recipe a few times, and this version is the best, except for the red coloring. If you're using organic natural colorant, I suggest adding more. I used only 2 tablespoons.

Traditional Red Velvet Cake Ingredients:🍰
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teasponn Baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cocoa powder
1 1/2 cups vegetable oil
1 cup buttermilk, room temperature
2 large eggs, room temperature
2 tablespoons red food coloring (adjust to your preference)
1 teaspoon white distilled vinegar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Cream Cheese Frosting Ingredients:🍰
16 ounces cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
4 cups powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

I preheated the oven to 350°F (175°C). Greased two 9-inch round cake pans.

I sifted together flour, sugar, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder.

I whisked together vegetable oil, buttermilk, eggs, red food coloring, vinegar, and vanilla extract until well combined.

I then gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until smooth and well combined.

I divided the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans and baked them in the preheated oven for 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cakes came out clean.

I baked in the preheated oven for 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cakes comes out clean.

While the cakes were cooling, I beat together the cream cheese and butter until smooth and creamy. Then, I gradually added powdered sugar and vanilla extract, beating until the frosting was smooth and spreadable.

Once the cakes had cooled completely, I spread a layer of cream cheese frosting on top of one cake layer and placed the second cake layer on top. Then, I frosted the top and sides of the cake with the remaining frosting.

I decorated it with fresh flowers and cake crumbs, then refrigerated it before serving.

12 candles to blow!

Served with rose petals.

Our lovely old neighbours were not forgotten. We knocked and gave them a slice each! Joy complete!

Here you go... Enjoy your homemade red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting!

It's sure to be a hit with your family and friends.

Have a wonderful day, everyone!

In the face of this onslaught of delicious delicacies, I have decided to ditch the Beachbody and embrace the
doughnuts and Red Velvet Cake.

Oh no! Haha, I must take the blame. But enjoy! moderately. x
