Mordovskoe podvorye - place where you can try taste of Mordovia

in Foodies Bee Hiveyesterday (edited)

Good day dear mates! In one of my previous posts I told you that I had dinner in well-known restaurant called Mordovskoe podvorye when I had trip to Saransk.
And now I think it's time to tell you more details about this restaurant.

Restaurant Mordovskoe podvorye located on the banks of river Saranka. It's building is constructed of heavy wooden logs. But now I'd like to describe it's interior. Inside it looks like old style izba.
Upon entering, guests are greeted by a display featuring a team of three horses pulling a sleigh.

Next, you'll find Mordovian folk costumes and a display case featuring local liqueurs.

There is a separate display of desserts near the entrance; you can enjoy them in the restaurant or take them to go.

The main space of itself is well-divided, featuring both cozy, secluded corners and a more open area. The café also has a second level that offers a great view of the performances taking place on stage.

The restaurant offers a menu featuring not only traditional Mordovian meals, such as the famous Ovton Lapat (bear paw), but also modern meals like the unique Pachat Burger. You can also try millet pancakes, panzhakai pies, hard-boiled eggs, honey, sour cream, and jam.

As a starter meal I ordered a warm liver salad for myself, which featured a great combination of vegetables and liver, topped with an excellent salad dressing.

I also ordered the creamy mushroom soup. It was served piping hot in a clay pot; the mushrooms were cut quite neatly, and it wasn’t too rich. Overall, the soup was hearty and rich.

And finally I ordered a dessert of pancakes with honey and blueberry fruit drink.

Prices in restaurant are certainly higher than the city average.
For example, the bear paw I mentioned earlier costs 1,100 rubles, the warm liver salad I ordered costs 700 rubles, and the pumpkin cream soup costs 600 rubles. On photos bellow I'll show you some points from menu.

And of course prices for alcohol drinks to compare.

As a conclusion I'd like to say that of course it's not cheap place but it's worth to taste local cousin anyway! Especially in such a cozy place like Mordovskoe podvorye.

So that's all for now! Stay tuned, yours @travoved
