A Pub for Good Dogs 🐶 + A Power 🆙

I've been at home in Leeds trying to bounce back from a moderate case of the blues. A "must do" during times like this, even when working remotely, is to get out of the house every day. Lucky for me, my stroll from our riverside flat past the Leeds Minster to the Lamb & Flag Leeds Brewerywas a completely sunny one. Oh, how I needed that as my motorized blinds are still not operational and the dark living area doesn't help to lighten the mood.

But looky!! In the photo above there is a full menu of treats, jerky, fries, burgers, roast and even a beer to wash it down...all for DOGS!!! Ok, Sir Woofchester's designates these pooch purchases "for GOOD DOGS ONLY," but I bet many a spoiled dog has enjoyed such a treat in this well-known public house.

Lamb & Flag is an amazing building, restored from a poor condition that went on for over a hundred years. At a later time I will write a piece about its historic preservation, but for now I'll show you the quiet room I had to myself at the pub. I arrived just as they opened for the day. It would have been nice if there would have been a dog there to pet.

Lamb & Flag is laid out in four areas: the bar, the snug, the upstairs dining, and the beer garden. It being January, it was too cold for the beer garden, The upstairs dining typically doesn't open until the weekends, and the bar area was occupied with a couple of noisy parties. I opted for the Snug.

In Britain, the Snug is a smaller, more enclosed cozy room within a pub. Typically a snug would have more comfortable seating but this one is designed for more extra dining seating, but it is a room that is easier to hear your own conversation.

There are a few pieces of Leeds-related art hung about and strung with clear festive lights for effect. This one features Blue Rinse The store, about a five minute walk from the pub, is still in operation with 3 floors of clothing, some pieces are originally made from gently worn clothes.

This black and white pair of a photos refer to the dockside block of the Lamb & Flag, from 100 years ago. I've never developed a taste for beer, but for someone who enjoys it, like our #beersaturday friends, they could enjoy more than a dozen Leeds' beers in this very pub.

I really enjoyed having the Snug all to myself. I spent the time while my meal was being prepared to cast upvotes and write replies to my Hive friends while I sipped a bottled Harrogate Sparkling Water. My fave!

January is a quiet times for restaurants and bars in Leeds. Many drinking establishments and eateries offer specials for Dry January. I haven't given that a try just yet. Maybe next year? 🤔

Normally I place my hero photo in its appropriate spot at the lead to my post. But today I gave that to the dogs! 🐶 I saved the best for last. This is the Mains dish that I was happy to wait for 25 minutes to have served. It was every bit as good as it looks.

This is a Pork Tenderloin Wellington, made with Mushroom & Spinach, accompanied by caramelised apple purée, Savoy cabbage and bacon, roasted carrot, and cider sauce. I was maybe a third through my meal and concluded, "this is Britain. Brits have wine with their meals, especially with luncheon."

So I arose from the table, went to the bar and returned with one glass of Cabernet Sauvignon. 🍷

Thank you for dropping in and going to the Lamb & Flag with me. I hope you had fun as I had telling you about it.

For now, I sign off powering up 28 HIVE for 28 January! 💪🏽

Much love! 🥰

The dog's menu is uber cute and so nicely presented. I bet many a pooch dreams of going down the pub in Leeds!

Leeds must be situated at the very center of the food pr0n universe. Yum! 😋 And as soon as I heard the list of places within the pub, "the Snug" was the place that most interested me even before you described it! 😁
