If I were to plan a 3-day visit for a friend who can afford an overseas trip as her post retirement financial model, i would encourage her to visit the western part of Nigeria, this is so because I am familiar with the Yoruba culture and tradition and everything in between. It would not be difficult to show this person around to try our local and delicious dishes, dance to our traditional musics that brings life and joy, she would also visit the rivers, festivals, market etc.

Firstly, upon arrival to my country Nigeria I would pick her up at the airport and we would immediately go to a local restaurant to try a local dish. Since we are time limited, it would be best to explore every moment as it comes by.

Before resting we would have the popular and delicious Yoruba dish of amala and ewedu soup. For starters this would introduce her and help our Explore the culture and tradition of her current environment.

This is definitely not the only thing she would be trying as we will be trying other traditional Yoruba dishes such as pounded yam and egusi soup or okra soup, semi and EFO RIRO, ewa agoyin, fufu and black soup, asun, moimoi, Dodo and so on.

Secondly, I would love to take her for sight seeing as we have different tourist sites in the western part of Nigeria like the idanre hill, (osun state), olumo rock in Ibadan, Agodi Gardens in Ibadan, zoological garden in university of Ibadan.

Thirdly, I would love to showcase my culture by playing interesting local musics so we can dance and have fun.

Again, it would not be a bad idea to stroll out and see markets, because it is always an interesting view when strangers see how we do things in the market as they do not have this experience overseas.

If luck ne on her side, she can witness a traditional festival that describes a society's culture and traditions and what they believe in.

According to my post retirement financial model, I could almost afford an overseas trip every other year. I'd like my Hive sisters or brothers to plan my 3-day visit to your home town or city. What would we do and where would we go for me to experience your culture?)

Thanks for stopping by my blog...

Beautifully written! I could almost feel the energy of Yoruba culture through your words. Which of the traditional dishes would you recommend most for a first-time visitor?

Pounded yam and egusi soup... Thank you

Why now!!! Am salivating already 😋😋...

Lol... Very funny

Amala and ewedu is not a joke oo..

Hi, I love the way you described everything, it made me travel straight to your country and imagine all the avocados and delicious food. Thank you so much for sharing with us this experience. Regards

It's good to try other cultures, just as you describe: delicious local dishes, dancing to traditional music that fills you with life and joy, and I would also visit the rivers, festivals, the market, it looks exciting,

Come get MOONed!

If there is one thing that encapsulates every social culture and tradition is the connection of celebrating around food. I get the feeling that I will happily gain a few pounds weight, offset by learning to participate in traditional dance. Perfect balance!
By the time we say our tearful goodbyes with group selfies, I'll expect to appear and behave like a Yoruba Nigerian lady than a tourist.!LOL

I found nasty month-old leftover mac and cheese in the fridge.
It was a case of age-related macaroni degeneration.
