This should count as one of the beautiful stories I've shared in my years of blogging as it is about food, friendship bonding and a special day. I think it is a delicious combination, what do you think? Maybe you'll respond after you read the story.
This is my response to the first prompt suggested by my humble self. I got curious about kitchen and favourite place stories and I've been so happy reading the entries so far, I hope we keep them coming.
Well, let's have the story...
July 24th, my birthday was approaching and my closest girlfriend wouldn't hear there was not going to be any celebration for it. I tried to take my birthday as lightly as I could but my friend wasn't in the same direction with me, it was a must we did something special for that day.
For me who had no plans on how to make my special day special aside relaxing at home and do nothing, I didn't expect my friend to come over a day to my birthday with a bag full of ingredients for my birthday meal. I couldn't help but notice how excited she was about my day more than I felt, anyone could have mistake my birthday to be hers lol.
After all the birthday shouts and baths on the D-day, my friend and I started cooking fried rice. A meal she called "My birthday special" and I got more excited about the whole thing. All the ingredients were available and we prepared the meal together as we talked at length about ourselves and our future plans.
I can still remember how we felt and looked at each other when we tasted the meal after we were done. I complimented her and she compliments me too because we couldn't conclude on who really made the meal turn out so delicious. We prepared enough to share with a few of my neighbours and the feedback brought more smiles to our faces.
We didn't just enjoy our meal together, we had chilled drinks to go with it and after we sat down to have another long chat both funny and crazy ones. It wasn't a too much activity birthday but it was as exciting and memorable as I'll want it even though I didn't plan for it.
All my birthdays with friend around has been memorable but this one was most memorable for me because of the delicious meal we had and I feel grateful recounting that moment.
I enjoy preparing meals with family or friends and from my experience, it almost never goes bad. There have been kitchen mishap and bad meals but not to the extent I'll want to cook alone all the time although I still enjoy preparing meals alone especially in the ones I'm confident about.
I've got many kitchen stories to tell but this is one of the most beautiful and memorable one to share, let me know what you think about it.
