The roads are quiet this morning. Few cars and trucks are driving around, only within the city. The roads to the highway are blocked. The strike has begun. Negotiation or repression? Solidarity or further fragmentation? We'll see. #ecuador #mountains
Unfortunately, that depends on the government. And their playbook is not friendly to the people.
Yeah, trusting the government to do the right thing these days is not a winning stance. I fear events here in the US will get much worse before any positive changes can come about. Worst-case, total collapse may be required to fix anything. 🤷♂
Let's hope it doesn't get to that. But yes. I'm focused on community building due that reason, I don't see much hope left in the leaderships present at the moment. Rather start building from the bottom.
During the pandemic, there was a curfew. Since I had a permit to deliver bread, I went to the next town twice a week to deliver - and there was noone on the road, not even cops. A friend had given me his VW Passat, and told me to punch it. I made it to 180 km/h. It was fun.
Yeah, it felt cool to do that after living here for so long and not being able to go faster than 100 km/h. There is at least some German in me regarding that...
