Managed to find the pic pretty quick.
A Giant Moth from New Brunswick, Canada
Looking at my garage door. The white door part of the frame is about 6 inches.

Interesting you mentioned bird. Yesterday I found a dead Humming Bird in my garage and I was saddened by the find. It was not much more than a couple feet away from this pic.
That's a monster! We get some fairly big hawk moths around here, but not that size.

Ah! They are few and far between. Rare to get a pic.
Interestingly, I saw a similar one at my cottage, about an hour drive away from home. It was night time and I didn't get a change for a pic.
And, one morning, about a week later, I lucked out. It stayed there for a few hours.
