It is genuinely entertaining? I mean would you play it if it wasn't on Hive/incentivized by Hive rewards?
It's sort of like oGame stuff (but simpler)... which I have played and like. But these games are tied to rewards (if not some kind of "this is the winner because of this much potential"), which are a sort of prize to build yourself on the game. Funny enough, you can play this game to "take" rewards from other players too :D So, it's a double-edged sword :D
I've never played oGame I'm afraid.
