I bad with career path suggestions... not yet educated enough on my own role to feel good about it. So my answer is, go with what you like to do for now. If you are OK with getting out of your comfort zone right now, and can afford to do so, DO IT! That' more or less what I would do if I knew what I know now.

        I'm thinking of going into programming then, AI and machine learning.

              Again, if you have the means, do what you like. Very little amount of people have a job because they like it, not because they need it.
