May the best candidate win? I hate that statement with passion. Just say who you want to win. At least be honest and stop being "best" neutral

Or best in what exactly? Best on the economy? Best on corruption? Best for your specific region or tribe or class?

Do you support that statement, and what do you think when people say it, because it sounds so neutrally hypocritical

Sort:

I don't in anyway as well. It's just an indirect way of executing their selfish interests. Will they actually allow the best candidate win even if they are the best?

It also sounds somehow self. No doubt about that. I don't think they will

They won't because they already know who they want before the contest or competition even begins. Every normal process is just a formalty

The world is corrupt and almost everything in it 😂, sometimes I just don't look at those things.

I'll just say their real intention is "best in corruption".
You will see many contest been manipulated because they want their secretly endorsed candidate to win.
Talk of all these MBGN contest amidst all others, all these modelling agencies entry screenings and all...

About this one, most of them just say that word already knowing who they will pick the the are the one judging. But the question I asked Is directed towards politics & citizens. Where citizens won't go out to vote and be saying best candidate should win and be complaining after..

That's a mess on our end sha even if we feel like our votes does not count or the electoral process will be altered, we still need to vote to choose the leader we want

So full of corrupted and manipulating activities and they keep coming out with "may the best candidate win". Well I guess the "May" says it all... He or she will win if they allow

Are you the type that says let the best candidate win or you go out to exercises you obligation as a citizen?

Actually I did in the past before I started joining the electoral officers and you know when you are one, then you're not allowed to support anyone

Yeah! Maybe
But now you know better

Honestly, I've heard people say this way too often. But it would have been much better to hear it said as, “Personally, I want X to win because…” At least then we're having a real conversation.

Exactly! That sounds way better that just deciding to stay neutral rather than picking someone. Some will even say "God should choose the best candidate for us" like really? Will he come down from heaven and do what they should do😂

No o! We have to be the ones to vote for the supposed best person to win. Too bad, we go for prayers first before action in this country.

That is what I've been seeing around these days. People pray without action, then they complain later about the situation of the things. So pathetic

It is really. 🥲

In this country where we see house burning and instead of calling the right personnel to put it off, we start praying for the fire to off

Ahhhh! 😂
I've not seen that one before o but I know how possible it is in this country of mine.

Ah I actually saw a video like that and it trended as at that time. I was just furious
A property is burning and you're praying instead of taking actions to stop it

That happens with all these over religious people who expect God to do what they are meant to do

The problem might be the statement itself, but the assumption that “best” is an objective thing. Two people can look at the same candidates, same policies, and same records and genuinely disagree about who is best.

And for this two people, they will pick one out of the options rather than staying on the fence.

Right! I think it's best to pick a choice than staying on the fence.

That's how it should be rather than saying "may the best candidate win" or "God should choose for us" as if he's a magician

Lol that's just it.

Sometimes “the best candidate” simply means “the candidate whose policies benefit me.” And that's something wrong with the statement.

But do you think it's okay to stay on the fence rather than saying "may the best candidate win"?

Not at all, you should vote for your supposed best candidate first

🥂
Two cold Fanta for you

I'm waiting for it.

“May the best candidate win” is fine. But the real conversation begins when we ask: best for what, and best for whom?

I'd push back on ''fine' though. The phrase isn't a starting point for that harder question, it's usually a way to dodge it if people wanted 'best for what, best for whom' they'd just ask it instead of hiding behind 'may the best win

Actually! I wonder who would tell them to do better in these things.

We can start it. Change the minds of those who usually say that and ask them to do better; pick a side rather than being hopeful for the best candidate to win

I guess that can work too.
