Cool looking place!
As you come down the east slope of the cascades here the fir trees of the west side and summit start to give way to pine forests. As you hit the high desert, junipers and sage start to take over. The Cascades act as a rain shadow and squeeze out all the rain.
There are hot springs nearby thanks to its volcanic proximity. It's crazy how different each zone is based on the influence of the landscape, which is dominated by the mountains, as you said.
