caterpillars from the Genus Danaus are an example of natural beauty hidden in tropical forests, these caterpillars are living creatures that are very interesting and charming in the wild, the Genus Danaus includes various types of butterflies which are known for their amazing colors and wing patterns, Like the monarch butterfly (lake plexippus) and several other species, caterpillars have these unique characteristics and differentiate them from other caterpillars, both in terms of appearance and caterpillar behavior.

As you can see in the picture, the Danaus caterpillar has a long and rather fat body shape, while the striped pattern on the caterpillar's body adds amazing visual beauty, this caterpillar has a bright and striking basic body color, the basic color of this caterpillar is green, while the striped pattern is golden brown, it can be understood that these bright and striking colors can be interpreted as a self-defense mechanism and these caterpillars often eat the leaves of plants that contain toxic levels in them, such as the leaves of the famous biduri plant. the sap is deadly.

at the larval stage, that is, before becoming an adult caterpillar, this caterpillar has a fairly special diet, namely only consuming leaves from certain plants, lake caterpillars are very famous for their selection of food types, for example monarch caterpillars only consume milkweed leaves, this plant contains chemical compounds which are poisonous or what are often referred to as cardiac glycosides, this process really allows them to accumulate a large amount of poison in their bodies, and this is believed to be a method of self-defense because predators do not really like and even don't like lake caterpillars at all because of the poison content. in his possession filled over time through a selective consumption process.
