First Ever WIN in Fray 24 Brawl ~ Diamond Level Gold Foil Fray ~

in Splinterlands5 days ago

Hello Everyone, Especially My Fellow Splinterlands Players. Today I want to share you guys my funny and exciting experience I have this week on Splinterlands Guild Brawl.

Our Guild, Time and Attention 1 just got into Tier 5 Brawl last week and this week we had our second brawls on the highest Tier. We were completely crushed on the first brawl, sit on the bottom and everyone was devastated however we kept thinking about how to make a comeback... How to get the mid table position, and many more...

And we are happy now, because we made it!!

We got the #5 , well it is on midzone anyway... or atleast my guild is not a bottom dweller today. Yeah hardwork pays off and we get 204 SPS for the reward. This is the most SPS I have got from a brawl, so I am very happy. If SPS is at ATH, $0,8, this would mean $160.

Of course I am a realistic here, it won't ever be back to $0,8. No Play to Earn game capable to give a free $100++ to every players. However this is still fun and who knows what happens in future, we might get some mooning price back although it won't be a new ATH.

In this brawl, I joined the Fray 24, Diamond League Wild format of Gold Foil Cards. This was an insane choice, I picked this one not because I had great selection of cards nor I thought myself as a hotshot. I let my guild-mate picked frays first then I picked the rest.

Sometime we need to do this on a guild, it is not about we have the best stats or we become the best performers. It's more like on getting the most points our guild can do, and sometime some sacrifices must be taken.

My goal was simple, to steal a win and luckily I got two wins there. Maybe for you this is something that ordinary, but not for me. I came with Less than full Gold cap, so It's hard to expect any result. So I feel that I have every right to be excited and happy with all my wins here.

So let me show you the first win I have got on Fray 24, here, and It's a ridiculous one because I stole that win from one of the famous whale on HIVE

HIGHLIGHTED BATTLE

Here comes our battle which is my first win of the Fray 24 Tier 5 Brawl. I stole this win from @neoxian the dragon, I hope he doesn't mind I mention here.

Both of us used a level 4 Summoners, however he used a Legendary Summoner which meant they came with the highest level cap, so no more level cap for them. My summoners? Lorna is a rare rarity summoner which this means I have only a silver level cap team

So why did I pick Lorna here? My favorite element is white, the Life, and Lorna is my old time favorite when there wasn't a wild-modern format separation. Sometime when you have no clue at all or lose confident in your team, the best way we could get is to trust our favorite summoner and favorite meta.

For that reason too sometime I envy people who have high level decks, such asa @noctury with his brawl battle here: https://peakd.com/hive-13323/@noctury/a-sure-win-conquering-tier-5-fray-13-in-splinterlands
How I wish I have a full level Lorna team such as his team there. Ok back to reality here.

This was a complicated ruleset anyway, because all elements were available for selection. On Wild Format fray, and we had all elements available, we really could not predict at all what our opponent could come with.

And we had that Fog of War ruleset and Aim True ruleset... Our tank would have to endure everything there. So in general we had two option here:

  1. Use a super strong tank but we needed to pay the price... The backline units would be a bunch of clowns
  2. We used a holding tank, just to hold attacks for some turn and let our backline do the killings.

I choose the second one. As you could see in my line up, everything was on Gargoya Lion LoL. He was a half ass one, a bit of everything but no specialty. I picked this one due to His Void ability, so atleast no big magic unit would wipe him quickly.

And I bet everything on this dude, the Henchling Enforcer. He had everything I needed for this meta to work... 3 damage per round, good speed, and a crucial Halving ability. If my opponent came with big tank, this dude would shut him down... which unfortunately my opponent did not come with that.

Ok now let see how this one progressed

image.png

  • This battle started by both sides buffed their team. Both of us tried to debuff opponent speed, however they came up as the victor. They put my team speed down to 1.
  • They came with 6 magic damage per round. I believed my opponent forgot to notice the fog of war ruleset or maybe he just wanted to avoid scattershots.
  • My team had 2 melee damage and 4 range damage. It's the same 6 damage per round.
  • Overall my team way slower than them, in general I should have lost this battle, but we still had that True Aim ruleset. so it was not settled yet.

image.png

  • Look at the big picture here, Baakjira had 17 Health point and he would keep healing 5 points per round. on the other side, they kept hurting my Gargoya Lion for 2 damage and my Lion got healed every turn.
  • The question was could my team kill that Baakjira before the fatigue came? Let's fast forward this battle

image.png

  • Finally my team killed that Baakjira in Round 12. The battle could go on now, hopefully I would kill them all before fatigue.

image.png

  • On Round 13 my team managed to kill their Moxian Rebel. Now it seemed I already settled this battle.

image.png

  • 2 round later, we put down their Daigendark Surveyor. This 2 mana unit somehow looked so hard to kill, and I beleived she could compete with Kelp Innate, an Old 2 mana non attacking tank in Water ELement. Both seemed to be equal there

image.png

  • Round 16 was the last one, it's a good game and I was happy I could get my first win on this Fray.

WHY I WON THIS BATTLE

This battle was not an Epic one by mechanic but for me an Epic one because it's the first win I ever have in Fray 24. If I have to be fair here, There are two things that we can fairly judge as the decisive points of this battle.

First I am lucky not to come using any Mages. This is a true fact, if I came with any magic units, there will be a condition which their Daigendark Surveyor will reflect those magic and killed my own units.

In any battle less than 20 mana, do not expect anything fancy and many meta and counter meta inside it. You can only come with 1 or 2 solid meta, and when it doesn't fit in, then you lose a big advantage there.. In this battle, my approach of using all range units is well paid off.

Second, I believe my opponent made a big mistake by not noticing the fog or war. If he used kulu swimhunter, or a pair of Igor Darkspear and Xenith Archers, I might have lost badly.

But this is how Splinterlands Battle work, you only need one small mistake and you lose the battle. On the other hand, this is what it's called as fair. Even with lesser decks, you could win the battle by outsmarting your opponent or let your opponent to slip off and lose in bad way.

Well that's my first win on Fray 24 Gold foil Diamond Wild anyway, It feels great and Thanks for reading this post... I am looking forward to see you on Splinterlands Brawl!! Brawl is Fun!!
