Dear Citizen

Welcome to my third dCity Journal. As usual I share my dCity weekly stats andin this opportunity I want to share another tips, or I call it beginner lesson to my fellow Dcity Citizen. This is my second lesson, which the first one can be found here:

https://inleo.io/@dewabrata/lesson-1-starting-with-the-tax-refund-fbo

I shared my first lesson about starting our own dCity game there, which was about understanding the concept of tax refund. Today I share the second one which you might find the subject very provocative...

FARMING YOUNG CITIZEN

Basically your city will stay the same as time goes, without normal changes... Abnormal things will still occur, such as crime, people die, and some more. So to get some dynamics, you need organic growth and that is by having newborns!!

image.png

This is the organic dynamic you can get for your city. There are many ways to get them, the easiest one of course is buying them from market. But there are two other ways which from my point of view, those two are more effective than buying them from markets.

  1. Delegate your HIVE POWER (HP) to @dcityrewards . For every 500 you delegate to that account, you can claim a free Young Citizen every 24 hours. This counts for the multiplication, for example if you delegate 1500 HP, you can claim 3 young citizen every 24 hours.
  2. Get into top 400 Income Rank. All accounts in top 400 can claim one free young citizen every 24 hours. This is the real free one, and this is the reason why many players try to maintain in top 400 income rank.

However you must claim those young citizen manually in dcity discord, and you can come to their discord from this invite link : https://discord.gg/mseTH8sP

image.png

Above is a bunch of people claiming their free young citizen. If you are lucky, you will get a student instead of young citizen... of course the odds is very small.

These two ways are very crucial, whether your city grows or not, or your rank drops or not, it depends on how many young citizens you can claim everyday.

Some people who do not play deeply in this game, use this to farm $HIVE too. So you can sell those young citizen, and you can hold the $SIM you get for some $HIVE drips, or you sell them directly and get more $HIVE.

Consequences Of Young Citizen

As I said above, some prefer to maintain their position and sell the excess young citizen for some extra profit. Some of you might think why don't keep their young citizen and let their dCity keeps growing. That should be better, shouldn't it?

image.png

Let's check the young citizen stats again. Do you see something that potentially harm your city there? Ok let me point them out one by one.

  1. Young citizen reduce 1 income. This is the social support they need to survive. You can not have tax refund bigger than your actual income, so the more young citizen you have... at first you will get higher $SIM from the tax refund, later on your income will be depleted and you won't get any tax refund at all.
  2. They do not give any population to add. They are the same as retired citizen and dead citizen, not adding any population. So it will be hard to increase your income later, because adding building that demand workers (unemployment) won't help at all.

These two things caught up some players, put them in condition that they needed to sell their young citizen because those citizen started to kill their own economy. So don't get to conclusion too hasty about people selling young citizen because they want some quick cash, some are not like that but they are put into that situation due to the traits of young citizen.

There will be a limit or some limitation about how many young citizen you can have. Remember 1 young citizen will consume -1 income, and to make them able to give you 1 tax refund, you need an income to be refunded. In simple words, you need 2 dcity income to house in a young citizen properly.

You want to house in 50 young citizen, prepare fresh or new 100 income stats, doesn't matter if those come from buildings or people. You want to add 10 more young citizen, add 20 income more. This becomes more like a horse race.

Study Case: My DCITY

My dCity is on rank 290 in income, so I am eligible to claim a free young citizen every day.

image.png

I have 10 young citizen and all of them are from free claim. I still claim new one everyday. Overall this is how my city looks like:

image.png

Everything looks ok, however there is a big challenge there, or a big obstacle that will make my city growth halted.

image.png

My city only has 34 Max Income, and I already have 27 Tax Refunded. So it means only 7 $SIM income that can be refunded again. What happens if I get 4 new young Citizen? My Max Income will become 34 - 4 = 30 $SIM , and I only get 30 SIM per day for my daily income.

The more Young Citizen I will get, will make the number worse. So right now I could only house in 3 more young citizen effectively.

Like it or not, I have to push up my total income, in hope that my Max Income will increase too.

So This Is My Fix

image.png

I just bought 2 cards for 3.672 $SIM, I believe this is the most efficient way, and these are the cards:

image.png

Ow I love Economist very much, I think this is one of the best population you can get for your city, of course they won't be cheap but still affordable.

image.png

The second card is Barber Shop. I think this is one of crucial card when you are in deep need of pushing up your income. It converts 3 workers into getting 8 Income. Most building only give you around 1:1 worker to income ratio, and some even lower than 1:1.

The only downside of barber shop is that this card plays in small number. so if you want to get 30 workers working, you will need 10 of them.

So what's the result?

image.png

My Max income (no tax) rises from 34 SIM to 46 SIM. I have 28 tax refund now, so it means I have 46 - 28 = 16 SIM gap from my Max Income against my tax refund, divided by 2 it will get 8... 8 more young citizen claimable until my dCity starts to collapse due to supporting too many young citizen.

So I hope this study case can give you some picture about housing in young citizen in your dCity. this is not that hard, but it is not that simple either.

DCity is infact a game of number, so you should have fun playing with number like this. So, see you next week

Thank you for coming by and reading my post here. dCity is a city simulation game on Hive Blockchain. It works based on the second layer Non Fungible Tokens (NFT) on Hive-Engine. Those NFTS represents in-game assets, can be a building, a citizen, a park, a background and many more.

You can dig more about this game on their official account here @dcitygame or you are welcome to join our dCity discord here: https://discord.gg/sad99wQG

nice post! for the record, delegations don't require a claim as they are distributed based on the blockchain and nodes being up or down can affect this payout.

I see, I will update about this tomorrow.

I thought all claim are made in that discord channel 🤣

Thank you for the heads up

Almost all claims are made in that discord channel. A claim is an active task that must be made in order to receive the rewards. There are two other ways to receive rewards in the form of citizens besides the discord Claim. One is by delegation of 500 HP to dcityrewards, and this is a Young Citizen passively distributed daily without need for daily interaction. The other is by ownership Claim from the Luxury Street, Communal Housing and Migration Center combines which mint a single student each for 800 SIM - 400 SIM every 1-2 weeks. I think someone has a Luxury Street listed right now for 350k SIM in the marketplace.

Thanks, a great post. I have recently started dCity and I find posts like this very helpful
