That's a similar title to yesterday's post, and for good reason.
After I agreed to cover the entire 2 weeks of night shifts, I get the message from my program director that she only wants me to cover last night, tonight, and then several nights next week. This means that, during the few days between, I'd have to go back on day shifts very briefly. 2 nights --> few days --> few more nights --> days.
This is ridiculous. I agreed to help out with night shifts, but I'm not going to be a yo-yo and dangle around my sleep schedule multiple times over such a short period. At this point, I would rather do more consecutive night shifts than switch back and forth in this manner. It's going to destroy my circadian rhythm when I already have difficulties sleeping due to stress.
This is where I draw the line.
I'll try to figure things out with the other covering person in a way that will allow me to stay completely on a night schedule (including at home). Hopefully we'll be able to alternate a few shifts so that I can maintain the same rhythm. I'm quite certain he'll help me out with this arrangement, but it's still going to have to be run by administration, who will likely give me a harder time despite the fact that I'm going out of my way to help them with all this coverage.
Wish me luck...!
