Hollow Night is a popular Metroidvania about exploring a haunting world and discovering its mysteries. You play as a silent knight, collecting power-ups and challenging enemies along the way.
I've heard so much about Hollow Knight and saw more than a few videos about it before. It felt nostalgic to play even though I never played it before. It's universally praised, and I can see why.
The atmosphere of Hollow Knight is distinct. You know if you saw a screenshot of this game in a glance. It's dreary but not horror-esque. I love the whole presentation of and the hand-drawn style for characters and environment.
In this video recording, you'll watch me get a feel for Hollow Knight's gameplay. The recording ends after my first death.
Hollow Knight uses hearts as a health system. (In this case, skulls instead of hearts.) The way healing works impressed me. As you fight monsters, you fill a bar at the top-left of the screen. Pressing the healing button consumes from that bar and gives you another health point.
I liked the personality each character has shown so far. The map maker is so enthusiastic about drawing maps, while his wife seems to be less obsessive about them. In one room, I found an old guy crying, I tried to reach him but couldn't as he was in the background, above the rocks.
I'm still in the early stages of the game, and if I could I'd like to record all of my playthrough. If you want to see that, tell me so down below.
