In its early days, back when they were still making games for 8- and 16-bit computers, Electronic Arts was an awesome company. But yeah, since then they have destroyed so many good companies. Origin is another.
It's true that EA was an innovative company in its early days, but over time it became known for absorbing and dismantling highly talented studios. Origin, with series like Ultima and Wing Commander, was a clear example: after its acquisition, EA imposed changes that ultimately stifled its creativity and shut it down. The same thing happened with Westwood and Command & Conquer. It's sad how the corporate approach ended up extinguishing so many legendary studios.
Origin was something that will always have a special place in my heart. There are very few companies that I would say if their name is on the box that I would have faith in its quality, but Origin was one of those.
