Hi there. In this travel post I cover some random food pictures plus Yong Da Chu Restaurant in Meizhou, China.
Lunch At Chinese Burger Place
In Meizhou, they have their own burger chain that is an alternative to KFC and McDonalds. I think it was called Chinese Burger. I tried out their fried chicken burger and fries for lunch.

This burger was pretty good. It had coleslaw in it too! This is a nice surprise. The fries with it were okay. The generic kind of fries.
What was really nice was the price. It cost around 20 Chinese Yuan which comes to around 4 Canadian dollars. In the Toronto area one burger + fries combo with a drink costs at least 10 CAD.
Shaxian Snacks Round Two
It was only me trying out the burger place. I later met up with the travel group at Shaxian Snacks. Shaxian Snacks was featured in the previous post. We liked this place so much that we visited this place again and again (until it was time to head back to Guangzhou).

For lunch it was wonton noodle soup. I think the wonton dumplings had shrimp inside them. Someone else had rice as you see above.
Yong Da Chu Restaurant
For dinner we decided to try out this restaurant. We passed by this place a couple of times as we were exploring our area in Meizhou, China. From the outside picture menu, it appeared that this place specialized in rice bowls with meats.

It looked spacious and nice inside. We gave it a try.
I am a big fan of menus with pictures on them. I also like pictures on the wall that show food pictures and prices. You have an idea of what food you are going to get and their prices. In the Toronto area, many restaurants do not have picture menus nor pictures on the wall like this place. When you order food from a menu it is a gamble. It could be a Western thing I dunno.
From this second wall picture, you can get a bowl of rice with meat/veggie for under 20 RMB. This is under 4 Canadian Dollars. Cost of living and wages are low here in Meizhou, China. The second one in the middle is a rice bowl with chicken. The bottom one is eggplant with rice I think.
I don't remember what I ordered but here are some pictures. I think my rice bowl had chicken, veggies and some spice. The spicyness for me was not too crazy even though there were chili peppers. Although I can handle some spice I do get nervous still when I see chili peppers.

This place was nice overall. Comfort style food that is very affordable if you are coming from abroad.
