Engagement Treat at Red Apple

in Eating Out9 months ago

A while ago, one of our friends and colleagues was transferred to another city, Sialkot. He has been living an exciting life there, enjoying the typical bachelor lifestyle. Every weekend, he goes out with friends, and his status updates and reels always show where he's eating and hanging out.

Last week, he came to Karachi to attend his brother's wedding. It was great to see him. He looked much healthier, and his accent had even changed to sound like the locals in Sialkot, which we found quite funny!

I have a special kind of banter with this guy; he never lets you get bored. He's a very interesting person. The happy news is that he got engaged a few months ago. We had congratulated him then, but now that he was here with us, how could we let him go without treating him? So, last Friday, we cornered him for a treat, and he finally agreed.

There aren't many restaurants near our office, just a few, and it gets boring to go to the same places every time. So, I suggested we try somewhere new, but we had a problem: we didn't have any transportation. We finally decided on Red Apple, which was close enough to walk to, but the heat was unbearable, making walking impossible. I went on a bike with one colleague, while the others got a lift from another colleague.

In my opinion, Red Apple is an expensive restaurant. I had eaten there a long time ago, but at a different branch. This was my first time at the branch near our office. The seating area was nice, but the biggest problem was that the AC wasn't working. It's ridiculous to charge for amenities you can't maintain. Only fans were running, and we were sweating and uncomfortable. But since we had no other option, we settled down there.

We ordered a variety of dishes together. I was starving, so I suggested ordering more, claiming I could eat it all. Despite my hunger, the heat dampened the experience a bit. To cope with the heat, we started doing all sorts of silly things. Our Sialkot friend has an iPhone 15 Max, so he took the pictures. I asked him to take good ones for my post. You can see from the pictures how much fun we were having.

Soon, the food arrived: chow mein, chicken shashlik, biryani, burgers, and rolls. I really enjoyed the food. It was a bit expensive but tasty and well-served. The portions weren't too small but not too large either. The shashlik with Chinese rice was especially well-made. The only downside was the lack of AC. Despite this, we had a great time.

However, returning to the office was a challenge. The heat and the five-minute walk felt like hours. Nevertheless, we made it back safely. Thanks to our friend for treating us in celebration of his engagement. It was a wonderful experience.
