RE: Preparations on My Vegetable Garden 2025 🌱

in HiveGardenlast month

Great job. I'm now excited on how it will turn out when you harvest them. Snails are the greatest enemy of gardens, as well as caterpillars. Everytime I'm home, I often visit the veggie garden every morning and afternoon just to check if they're infested.

Thanks a lot. Already harvesting - a lot. :D
If you got enough space, try this "crap vegetable barrier", works out pretty well for me since i dont wanna use any pesticides. In between to the "good stuff" some dry area = most likely done. In the end i should have extended my "barrier" further than i had planned in the beginning, but it's still fine in terms of hungry visitors. Some snails learn to fly as well if i realize them, but it's way more relaxed in terms of snails than i imagined, especially close to this "little forest area".
I also don't really care about this stuff a lot to be honest since if the surrounding nature is fine and there is someone trying to eat my plants, there is always another someone eating this someone, at least mostly.^^ But i seem to be pretty lucky at all in this concern. :)

But this also depends on the Seeds/Plants you are planting, mine are hardcore resistent, at least the ones i plantet most of (Name = "Rutje") and they don't really care about anything besides water.^^
Rutje combined with an old Kazakh breed same size, but yellow fruits (never have seen such a resistent tomato!^^) is my personal favorite, at least for my region. But more about this later on. :D

Are you using hybrid plants or "true-to-seed" ones?
