There is always a demand for organic food in the community. I don't know if it is because I invest my time more on gardening these days but I see a lot of people switching to self grown vegetables in their home gardens. I see many people having their own gardens at home not only for some attractive plants but also for growing their own food. This is a very good thing because today the food that we get from many places are not hygienic and even if we choose the right place to eat, the raw materials and vegetables used are not authentic.
Organic revolution
People are against pesticides and insecticides. They consider insects and pests to be friends now because in many ways they help us and in organic farming methodology, people consider the importance of having the ecosystem well built so that the yield is also very good and at the same time we don't dump too many chemicals on the soil. We used to have organic farming across the world about a century back and in the name of modernizing, we have started including many harmful chemicals in our food in the form of pesticides and insecticides. Today people have this awareness and they don't fall in this trap anymore or at least try it.
It will take a lot more time for everyone to get full transition but right now it is all in the hands of the producers. If they produce organic food, we can consume organic food but if they keep producing harmful foods, then we again have no choice because that's what is commonly available. In order to break this dependency, people have started growing their own food.
Home garden for vegetables
Many people even go beyond vegetables and grow more things in their garden but right now the basic needs of a household can be solved with the help of home grown vegetables. As an experiment I tried growing ladies finger and I was able to get a very good yield from the farming at home. If I do it right, I can use it for my own family and at the same time I can also share it with others too. There are many vegetables that can be easily grown in our home garden. Ladies finger is just one among them.
When we grow our own vegetables, we know what we are adding to the soil for its growth and this way we are able to produce food that are fully organic and the satisfaction we get in producing food is amazing. This way we not only make our own food but also provide some small amount of food to the ecosystem too where bees and insects and wasps and even squirrels get benefited out of it.
This is now becoming a trend here and many new people have started exploring this and want to grow their own food at home and soon I think people will understand the need for it and this can become a very common thing.
