I remember unexpectedly staying home one Christmas we were supposed to spend with the outlaws but the day we were going to be travelling was 45C and she didn't want us doing the 3hr drive in that heat (especially with the two elderly dogs we had at the time) as "if you break down on the side of the road you'll surely perish!"

So we had a post-Christmas catchup at sister in law's place later on after that particular heatwave dissipated.
