Bitter Better Gourd!

in HiveGardenyesterday

Namaste to all garden and nature lovers!

Yesterday, I went to my brother's house after a long time, and right outside the main entrance, I noticed some yellow flowers blooming. People usually plant beautiful flowers outside their homes instead of fruits and vegetables, because in an open area, curious visitors might not wait for your fruit to ripen. You know what I mean?

At first glance, I thought it might be a flowering plant, but just before entering the house, it clicked that it looked like a vegetable in the gourd family. I knew this because I've grown many similar plants in my home garden before. These flowers mostly grow on vines; their petals look a bit rough, and their appearance suggests that they were born to produce something else.

Now, knowing all this, I wouldn't enter the house without inspecting this plant. So, I took a closer look at it, moved a few leaves aside, and I saw these lovely bitter gourds quietly growing in a healthy manner. From the outside, it might look like a wild bush, but from the inside, these lovely bitter gourds are quietly growing.

And not only were there a lot of bitter gourds growing on this vine, but as I showed you above, there were also a lot of flowers blooming on it, which will themselves start their journey of becoming fruits after some time. Apart from all this, I also saw a lot of buds on this vine, from which one thing I understood was that no matter how much care you take of a plant in a pot, it gives its best only when it touches the ground.

Here's the largest bitter gourd on this vine. However, it's still growing and will likely grow a few inches longer if someone doesn't pick it off before then. That's all for today. I hope you enjoyed this gardening blog.

Your bitter gourd is so cute, that’s the kind of plant where even just one vine can give you many fruits when it starts bearing. It also makes so many flowers and that means more fruits will come. You will surely have more harvest soon.

You're right, this plant produces so many fruits in very minimal space. It's really growing healthy and probably will keep produce fruits. Thank you for your comment. :)

As a fellow gardener, I really enjoyed seeing you bitter gourds growing so healthy and full of life. Nothing compares to the joy of watching vines bloom and bear fruits in the ground.

Hi Five, fellow gardener🖐🏼 This is so true, Watching plants growing and flourishing is joyful and it also creates a positive environment. Thank you for your comment. :)

Great that the plant is growing and producing so well!

The natural environment, the soil, is the best place for plants to grow fully and their fruits to be completely satisfying.
By the way, it would be great if gardens had fruit trees and plants with tubers or other edible options so that they were accessible to everyone without any shortages... I wish that existed somewhere!
